for 4k, and the threat of messing up the tranny ... i dont know if it is worth it. i'd love to have more power, but i also dont want to have my car sitting in the shop constantly.

I would get it in a heartbeat!

There is no proof that a Supercharger will ruin our tranny. So many trannys have gone without superchargers or any mods, so that is a shortcoming of the design not the mods. If you spring for the supercharger you may as well get the bulletproof tranny from level Ten if and when your tranny goes.

As soon as I have the money, Im getting the SC from Tim. In the meantime I am buying the Rickcase Mod from Snook when he gets them.

i've already had my tranny replaced and that was from normal wear and tear. An upgrade on the tranny is a must, so the overall cost of SC and tranny can get into 5k plus. Man with 40k, since I have H/I/E I could have gotten a different car.
BTW, what is this mystery mod, I am trying to follow it but it looks like some metal plate, or am I looking at the wrong thing.

The SC being about 4K and a tranny upgrade probably another 3K, plus labor.. gonna be about 8K for it... then you need to upgrade tires, wheels and brakes to handle the speed.. that's alot of $$$!!

Some people who have extra money can go ahead and get it.. but duyam.. that is alot..

I would if we don't have those tranny problems, if my car don't have those rattles, Engine Check Light and all those bull crap... then I would...

But for now, it's a nono for me...

I would probably get it, but I'll have to convince my wife first. I say get it if you know you are going to keep your car for a while.

Depends on the HP gain as well. And what's included with the kit. If you still need to buy header and intake for it, then that's another grand. Let's say $4000 alone can get you 315hp at the crank, then it's worth it. Get the Level 10 convertor, some suspension job. Then you have a really special ride...

Not me!

In my opinion, front wheel drive cars and 300+hp just don't go together. If I spend money on a luxury sedan with over 300hp it will definetly be rear wheel drive. Front wheel drive is so much harder to handle with that amount of torque and hp.

Besides, considering that it will be between 8 and 10k dollars to upgrade everything that's needed, I don't think it's worth it. Might as well go buy a used GS and you will still be able to beat the supercharged TL.

I just don't think having all of that done to the car is worth that amount of money, or the time it is likely to take to have it done. If I was gonna spend that amount, I'd just go ahead and upgrade to a faster car.

Good point. Consider that when you get the tranny beef up, suspension, rim/tires, brake, and bababa. You will be spending like 10k at least. Then I would much rather have a S4 for the money. That's one of the reason why my TL is still fairly stock...

although i am not really into peformance (my cars are usually designed for looks and techno-gadget-gawking) i might consider it after everything else is done. it's not like we don't have enough power already, we do!, but if you also tracked/raced your car or something then for sure. it's really useless on the streets.

im sorry people

to get one thing straight if i ever come around to get a level ten just to get a supercharger id say thats a jip

comptech is not intentionally doin so
but it will look like a skevy business, once the trannys start breaking..... full of regrets.

id say invest in a custom turbocharger if you ever come around to gettin level ten.....get more bang for the buck(and i mean this)

also the product didnt even come out yet but they estimated to be around 4 g's right?
4,000+2,500(level ten) =6,500
hmm good business for them
but for so lil for us.
my nickel

I'm sorry, but I will not get it because Honda/Acura's V6 tranny already has problems without force induction,..or even stock. There are already many cases of 50~75 shots NOS squeezing causing failures. Making these FWD V6s fast takes too much money and investment. The cost of this supercharger plus a Level10 transmission eclipses over $10K, for that money, you can build a budget turbo Civic or Integra that runs in the 12s while we struggle for 13s because Accord V6, TL, TL-S, CL, CL-S are super heavyweights. Second, running on a constant boost level with increased fuel addition does not qualify exactly for a daily driver.

I am not getting it either. My TL is going straight to my wife after I get my new GS430 or 540/M5. And I doubt that my wife will need a SC under the hood. Imagine her racing to the supermarket?

Not me. Too expensive! I enjoy my TLS just the way it is. By the time I outgrow its power, it'll be time to buy a real performance car.

I think I'll stick with buying cheaper mods once a year like I planned I think sways will be my next mod.

People keep talking about tranny problems. the S2000 has suffered from a horrible 6 speed tranny. This has not stopped many people from buying the Comptec Supercharger. If you get one, you just cant simply hall ass everytime you start of the line. If used properly, your tranny will last a lot longer.

Not me, I drive way too aggressively - if they say that the SC doesn't blow the tranny if driven "nice", I would definitely have a problem.

I'm already on my 2nd tranny, doubtful the next one will be covered under warranty.

Ha Ha I'm on my 3rd tranny.

After they replaced I think they give you another 12 months and 24k miles, but not sure.

$4000? That sounds cheap, the last I heard was "try to keep it under $5000".
Either way... if my dealership will back the Comptech Supercharger
just like it backs my headers, springs and sways. Then there's no
transmission reason for me not to.

As for turbo? Come on, I want this thing to be fast but drivable. A
Turbo surge and lag is not my idea of a sports sedan. Roots is the
best way to go for this type of car. Instant throttle response and
low end torque.

I don't think 330 hp at the front wheels is going to cause any driving
problems. Maybe it's won't be a road racing car, but come on.
the Cadillac has 300 horsepower and 295 ft-lbs of torque and
FWD without torque sensitive steering. I think driving characteristics
for our TLS's will be more than fine.

Justifying spending $5000 bucks on anything these days is the hard part.

it's the first S/C offered for our car. I'm gonna wait until someone improves on it or until it's cheaper....assuming I buy one at all; I'm worried about my tranny.....everything I read makes me think twice before I stomp on the gas pedal.

From the latest I heard. The trannies are not dying because of hard acceleration, neither from overheating. But that is just what I heard.

well, it can't be good....besides, I don't think Honda-Acura installed trannies in the TL that were meant for hard acceleration

do you guys thjink my tranny would know it had a SC on it living at 6200 feet above sea level? how many horses does it add? if it were about 50 hp extra i bet my car would run here like your cars do down there. i ran a 16.55 sec 1/4 up here i cant even break the tires loose at this elevation.
