Salt residue removal

Simple question:

How do you remove salt residue from the sides of the car without scratching it?

Scenario:

Black TL + live in snowy area + lots of salt on road = salt dust leftover even after washing car.

It's a good thing I put on a coat of Zaino before the winter otherwise I'd be REALLY upset.

Help? Perhaps NSXNext would care to comment?

For a start spray it down for a good 5 min. I even like to spray the hose under the car. Start from the top and work your way down just spray it down good. Then I use a good suddy soap and i soft sponge and scub it soft then spray down then continue untill its all cleaned off. Yeah I would ask NSXNext he may have a better solution for you.

Same dilema here. I hate the f*cking salt.
When it gets warm outside( say about 30+). I'll do a wash by hand with soap and all of course. If its not too cold, i'll dry it and wax it just like i always do in the summer. But if it cold, forget it. All i know is that when i wake up the next morning i wont see all the white residue on my car.

And oh yeah, definitely under wash the car. just hose it.

Just get an electric pressure washer, takes about a minute.

ROFL You don't have a black TL, do you? I tried a touchless car wash and it didn't help.

I was hoping not to resort to a hand wash in the cold, as you others suggest, but I may have no choice. I wonder if Z6 freezes below 30 degrees.

Funny you should ask. I am going to order some of this stuff soon. Looks to be pretty efficient at removing road salt without having to touch the car with a mitt. Reviews to follow.

I have a garden sprayer so I will probably just spray down the car with it and then rinse it off.

I knew you'd show up sooner or later!
Let me know how the Salt-Away works. It sounds promising.

I just don't want to ruin my black paint.

I would also vote for the touchless carwash. I know you said it didn't do much for your black TL, but we just had one of the new Golden Nozzle Laserwashes built nearby and it makes both my '02 ABP TL-S and my '97 black Maxima SE look spotless. It does a double-presoak, foam soap wash and then seriously high pressure warm water rinse and then blow dry. Best thing since sliced bread. Especially since it is 9 F outside right now.
