Replacing my TL

My lease is coming up and without pictures or details on the 2004 TL I have decided to replace my TL with the new A4. I know the A4 is going to be slower, but the CVT won't have the transmission problems that the TL has, and it brings all the benefits of a German made vehicle. Before I make the deal, do you all have any thoughts on any other car I should look at (besides the BMW, it is too much $). Thanks!

don't the new A4's go for about the same as a 3-series?
i mean unless you get a stripped down one.
the options on the A4 are EXPENSIVE.
dont let the base price fool you.

I beg to differ - German cars are PLAGUED with electronic problems. Good Luck!

The A4 is much less than the BMW 330 or 325. I drove a fully loaded 325i and the sticker was $35,000. The fully loaded 330i pushed the sticker price into the 40k's. On the contrary the A4 1.8t equipped as close as is possible to the TL with moonroof, xenons, heated seats, etc was only $30,000. Ok, so I don't get power seats, I can live with it. At least I get free regular maintenance and can easily chip the car.

It is almost always a mistake to buy to buy the latest model of a German car in its first year. Several years ago I violated this rule with the latest iteration of the BMW 3-series the first month it was availabe. In the four years I owned and drove that car I don't think it spent six consecutive weeks out of the shop. I have owned and loved audis but you should wait.

My buddy has an S4, and I just don't like the room it has inside. I am partial now to the room my TL has, and he is liking my roomy interior as well. But he LOVES his S4, so I don't know what to recommend.

I would just say that you are definitely changing the interior dimensions by going with the A4.

The S4 has NO room! The car is cosider as a compact or if your like 5 feet tall, then it's a different story. If you do get the A4 with the 1.8 motor, I suggest getting the chip from ADR; otherwise, it's pretty lame.

the new a4 looks very elegant, i have two friends, one has 3.0, one has turbo
don't get manual, vw makes some terrible manuals
get 1.8T, much easier to push up the hp, but still, the new a4 is nothing about sport, but very luxurious, IMO Audi makes the best quality German cars, ride is good
the sport 17"wheels look great on the car
the brakes are a bit too touchy though, and transmission eats a lot of power
if you want sport, you can go for 325i
if you want lux, get the a4
good luck

The A4 is a fine car, a bit smaller than the TL, but you're sure to enjoy it. You should also look into the Lexus IS300 if you want a sportier car. The other Lexi are simply unattractive to me as they are more geared for luxury than for sport.

The power issue can easily be solved on the 1.8T engine with a chip. At this point I much prefer the luxury to the sport of a car. Although after haggling with pretty much every Audi dealership in the LA area I remember why I hate getting a new car, the game of getting a decent price. Thanks for your replies guys, I will keep you posted on the final outcome. I am still a huge fan of my Acura, but don't want to get stuck in a 03 with the 04 being a complete change.
