Replacement Shocks And Springs

Replacement Shocks And Springs
So I have 140k miles on my TL. I bought it with 60k miles on it. The stock suspension has gone to crap. It has really gotten bouncy. My question is this, is it worth going with a higher quality shock than the KYB GR2? I have heard mixed things about these shocks. I was going to get Koni yellows, but every mechanic I have gone to says that the ride would be too stiff. Are they just saying this because they aren't making money off of selling Koni's? I am just looking for something that replicates the stock suspension. I don't care about lowering the car. So do I just replace the shocks and leave the stock springs? I have heard some people talking about how bouncy that setup was. Are there new OEM springs for sale for my 2003 acura TL-p? I could get H&R sport springs to replace the stock springs if I had to. Thanks for your time.

Also I forgot to ask you guys. How much should it cost for labor to install just four KYB GR-2 shocks? (I would leave the stock springs on the car, so just the cost of installing the shocks) I have been quoted $400 by one mechanic and $500 from another mechanic for just labor which seems a little much.

Regardless of what shocks you go with, Labor cost should be about $200 for all 4. If you dont plan anything special for the car, koni is too good for it and is expensive. you might want to look at tokico blue.

Konis are worth every penny. KYBs are good oe stock replacement shocks. My ride lowered with the konis is as good or better than stock.

Got a better quote for $240 to install them. All in all should cost $475. The only reason I'm not getting the koni yellows is because I have 140k miles. Not sure how much longer this transmission will last.

I wouldnt call that a good reason but none the less you wont go wrong with the KYB. (i had them on for 100+k before i went to Koni)

If you can get those H&R Sport Springs you wrote about, pair those up with Tokico HPs (aka "blues"). It's a great combo IMO. Mild drop - not slammed, so no problems scraping, looks better than stock, rides MUCH better than stock.
