Removing the Headlight from a 99-01 TL

How hard is it? Or should I just take it to the dealer.

Are you afraid of a screw driver and a few sockets, if not its something very easy. Just need to remove the bumper (also not hard and nothing to be afraid of) then it just unbolts

wait.. are we talking about the bulb or the housing? because you dont need to remove the housing to get the bulb out.

dnd is talking about the housing. dnd i know your good at audio so taking of the bumper and then the housing should be a breeze for you. all it is, is a bunch of bolts.

gran is talking bout the bulbs. which is very easy as well. open hood and youll see the black plastic cover that protects the balast. you unscrew that black cover and youll see the clip for where the hid is. takes 20 mins max.

Removing the bumper and taking out the housing takes no more than a few minutes.. if anything, if you need help, give me a call... I'll do it for you easily.

Naw the whole housing. I tried to clean the oxidation off my headlights and I fucked it up even more. The kit worked fine on the SUburban but not the TL. The more I think I want to upgrade the bulbs to now.

What are some of the better ones out there that give the most output and have a more blue tint.

4300k is the highest output available as far as usable light. HIDs aren't like halogens where you can get higher wattage bulbs.

Quick question...My buddy has a escalade, and his are really blue compared to the TL. Why is this... He still has the stock HID in there. .....

i had 8000k and now i got 12000k (brand new for free). but ne ways both the 8000k and the 12000k are really bright bluish white just like start up but nicer. when i had my 8000k my beams were aimed down because my car is dropped and didnt feel like aiming them up. they did lose a little output on the road but i drove with them for 2 years before they blew out and i was happy with them in terms of output. i put my 4300k back in until i got 12000k d2r bulbs for free. so i put those in 2 weeks ago. now initially my headlights were still aimed down. and really couldnt see as far as my 8000k or 4300k. so i decided to aim my headlights up. now my 12000k output is just as good as my 4300k. i know some of you wont believe it but i can see as far as my stock bulbs. with my 12000k the deers eyes are like very bright reflectors and i can see them way ahead than when i had 4300k. when i turn my highbeams on the distance is the same as my raised 12000k just for comparison so i cant see my highbeams on the ground, just on top of where my low beam's line end.

ask daillest973 he can confirm this since hes seen it.

im not positive but i think the escalades have projector lenses as appose to our reflective lenses. all projectors will make it look like a bright blue even though we all have 4300k stock.

Its not how far they shine, Its the usable spectrum of light. 4300 is the best and will give you the most. Ive ridden in cars 8k out in the country with no other lights but ours and 4300 gives off better usable light.
