Do not try it!

Unless you have a lot of experience with installing remote starts, I would not recommend doing this by yourself. Your vehicle has a transponder in the key that will not allow the vehicle to start unless it see's the key in the ignition. DEI makes a part called the 555H that will "fake out" the ECU to think the key is in the ignition. You must possess at least 2 keys because the 555H does not learn some keys. Play it safe and buy a Directed Electronics Remote Start at you nearest Specialty shop. Do not go to Best Buy or Circuit City! Most of the guys their do not have a lot of experience and lack any skills in troubleshooting. A remote start for you vehicle should run you about 250-280 installed. That should included two remotes and a lifetime guarantee. Good luck shopping! Make sure the company you deal with solders their wires. That way you won't come back for the system not working properly.

thats true, i installed a remote starter in my 00 but i had a professional do it, one of em installed it and then another guy from a lock place had to make me another to key to put under that dash, which reads all other keys that you have and also starts car. if your gonna install one make sure that you remind the guy to program all the car keys you ahve because if you dont, then they wont start the car (it happend to me)

I did my own install, viper 791 alarm w/ remote start. If your good at installing stereos, better yet, if you know what you are doing when installing stereos then you should be fine. Just use a multimeter and solder all connections. The 555h didn't work with my main key it learned the code from my spare key.

I got my remote starter/alarm system installed this weekend, everything came out to 400.00 Canadian. I had to get the module to bypass the chip, cause I only have one key, and would cost more to get a spare from the dealer to use in the starter. I went with the module which read the chip in the key.
