Dilemma

My neighbor just told me that a 91 Accord with 2 hispanic guys checkin out my headlights. Lucky he came by making believe its his car and said "You like the car?" The guy just said "he's checking it out". Should I worry? I just adjusted my sensitivity to my Viper 791XV. Isn't there a bar or something to prevent these kind of people from stealing my headlights from dealer?

sorry man, there is nothing you can do if parked in the streets. if you have a garage, use it. 3 of my friends with your model TL has had their head lights stolen. good luck.

start parking it in a garage or in a way that they cant get to it. they were looking for the lights. see if you can get some shock sensors put on the light or near by, that are sensitive

i'm in the bay ridge area, it might be kinda hard.. but dont want anyone to try anyways. My neighbors are really nosy. Maybe some airhorn or module to aftermarket alarm to horn to wake everyone up.

just lower your comprehensive ins deductible and dont worry about it. We're already charged a high premium due to the TL's ins rating, Use it if you need it.

I'm thinking about just relocating my ballast and if they do steal it, i can save 300 or so on each ballast. Just thinking about a new housing for the ballast. where to get it to protect it from water and heat.. something like a soap dish or tupperware. A small container, since our ballast isnt that big.

My alarm guy did this for me. Basically if someone tries and pulls the the headlight out alittle from the signal light side of the headlight the alarm will go off.

mike, 2 of my friends have the factory alarm and 1 aftermarket. the problem was that when the alarm went off, they did not hear it and no one else gave a sh*t.. its not just that they steal the lights, they fu*k up the car also. hood, fender, etc..

Even if the alarm goes off and they bolt, they've probably already done some damage by prying.... I'd suggest investing in a covered garage....the garage rental will probably be equivalent to lowering your deductible on your insurance....

Actually, my neighbors do care.. But only thing is that factory alarm will not go off if headlights are stolen. Aftermarket, maybe it wasnt that sensitive.

Mike?

Mike,

What are you into now?... Wow! I didn't know your car looked like that... Tv's and shit lol...

hmmm... Maybe there's like a car cover with a lock on it?

Something you can unlock, uncover, and throw it in the trunk quickly... on top of having an alarm and a gun and motion lights... Maybe you should just move to Dallas.

Yours Truly,

Jeremy

:P , I'm working on some sensors for the headlights now, waiting for some headers, configuring my laptop for car. Any more ideas? Willing to try anything.

I have some newer stuff on, like painted grille and Type-S throttle body.

Mike.

How's the navi working out?

Wow! that all sounds cool... Too bad people are dicks and want to steal your shit so you have to worry about it. I hope your windows are tinted and you have a visible blinking light for an alarm.

My dilemma is for the window tint... Is yours tinted? If so, what did you go with?

I want this light metal film called Llumar Centaur if it looks good but I don't want it to disrupt my NAVI. 2 times it said disk read error but I shut the car off and restarted and it was fine. I honestly love it though it has so much more for my area.

Wait a minute.. If you have the money to fiddle with all this stuff... Can't you get a garage or is it impossible where you live?

Also, what is that thing sticking out of your screen ?

1> Thing sticking out of the screen ( Air Freshener )

2> Got a garage, it full of my father's and my crap. But car headlight problem is a reccuring thing in NYC. Anywhere park, I always wonder and watchout.

3> For the tint. My car is tinted smoke. I have a suggestion for you. If you want light metal tints and you want to try it. Have the professional cut a 1/4 or 1/2 rear window size piece, tape it to window or place it on the driverside rear deck. That should simulate the tinted rear window with light metal tints.

That's a great idea! I'll definitly ask them to do that if I try a light metal film... I liike the reflective quality but I hate the look.

So have them cut just half the window size and tape it to the rear windshield?

I hope they will even do that lol...

If they are a reputable shop they will. The tint place I used also does residential/commercial. I asked about tinting the windows at my house. He said he can tint an entire room free of charge, and let me "try it out" for a few months, to see if I like it.

The GPS sensor is located on the rear deck. You can probably just place it on the rear deck.
