bs
I had a problem with my cd player and they replaced it under warranty and they blamed it on burned cd's. But that's BS cause I still play burned cd's now and it works fine. You have a bad unit
make them replace it or go to another dealer that will.

I can see a label applied to the CD causing it to jam (being too thick) but the fact that they're CD-R's (assuming they're the same thickness as a normal CD) won't cause jamming. They're full of it.

my head unit is filled with burned CD's (no labels) and I've yet to have a problem. The guy at the dealership could be right about the label making it too thick...but it's not an excuse for being an a$$-hole.

Hey guys,
Sharpies are the best!
I have never EVER had a problem with CD-Rs
The ones with lables will have a tendancy to peel and curl up because of the heat in your car when it's in the sun.

My head unit won't play rap, because I would never subject my speakers to that ****. Clasic rock all the way. Let the flaming begin.

i play cd-rs with no labels and two weeks ago one cd got jammed in the unit while trying to eject a few at the same time.
dealer never indicated the unit does not play cd-rs.
as a matter of fact they were willing to replace it if they could'nt get it out.
i think they just disconnect the battery and reset the unit since he wanted my radio and navi codes.
go to another dealer. i wish the cd palyer motor was not this fragile. TOO SLOW TO EJECT AND CHANGE TO A DIFFERENT DISC!!
PIONEER BIFFED IT ON THIS ONE.

My dealer (Delray Acura) blamed "excessive bass" in my rap cd's for my rattling sub grille, turned out to be loose, flapping fabric like I told them in the first place, so I fixed it myself and will be buying my next car somewhere else.
Hey paultl, try putting labels on top of some crappy older store-bought cds (if you have any, otherwise maybe BLEXV6 can loan you some of his old sh!t) and only play those for a few days and see if it jams, then you'll have your answer. And buy a damn cd at a store once in a while, when there's no more money to be made in music, there will be no more music! I'm all for burning your favorites onto a few discs, but you should at least legitimately own a few of them!
Hey BLEXV6, :thefinger and :flamer: just kidding, but come on at least the guys I listen to aren't dieing of heart attacks and alzheimers, classic rock is cool, if you're old as ****.

Real Nice. Classy. Hey, at least when you see your favorite artist on VH1's "Where are they now" in his trailer park, you'll know you were a key player in that.

i totally disagree on the CD-R thing...
BURN ALL YOU WANT
the artists make plenty of money and if they didn't go out and waste their money stupid sh!t, they wouldn't have the problem of being bankrupt...
plus.. i really don't think they should get that much money in the first place because come on now, what are they really doing? nothing like saving someones life or performing a surgery on a daily basis
don't give in to the cry of those greedy bastards
keep on burnin'

Hey Bochenek and Type @SSS,
you leachin' @ss music theives fvkin suck, the music is important, the artists are doing something very special and just because it's not as noble or sacrificial as a police officer or firefighter, doesn't mean it's okay to steal thier work. I agree that CD's are too expensive and that too many artists these days are "one-hit-wonders", but that doesn't give me a right to steal.
Are you saying that since a Camaro is a good car, but not great and since the guys who built it aren't out saving lives in their spare time that it's okay for me to steal one? I don't think so.
Artists put a lot of effort into their work and their music entertains you and you should be willing to pay for that. When you listen to the radio you pay for it indirectly by listening to commercials, same with TV.
Yeah I steal the occasional mp3 to play on my laptop at work, but most of the music on my PC has been ripped from my STORE-BOUGHT CD collection (almost 300 discs total) and only at 320kbps. It's a good thing you guys are too broke to buy CD's or a nice stereo or you'd hear how crappy your mp3's sound.

There is a solution. Granted, the eject rollers suck, but all you need to do is apply gentle pressure to to the top of the CD that is stuck in the player as it is trying to eject. You can stick the edge of another CD in the slot and do this or some other non-sharp item (like a plastic knife-blade) and the CD will come right out. Just stick it in enough to cover the edge of the stuck CD and gently press down. I usually have to do this once a week or so with a CD-R.
And FYI, I've yet to find any type of CD-R that won't play in the HU. All colors and makes work for me. It won't play CD-RWs though.

somehow you've convinced yourself that its ok to steal the occasional mp3 ("Yeah I steal the occasional mp3 to play on my laptop at work..."). hey man you said it not me.
its called being a hypocrite my simple minded chum.
regarding your analogies:
i reviewed what i said and nowhere in my post does it say anything about a camaro being a good car, "(Are you saying that since a Camaro is a good car...") again it was you who said that.
"When you listen to the radio you pay for it indirectly by listening to commercials, same with TV..." oh really??? so you must own a tv/radio station in order to know how they make a profit correct? Last time I checked it was *free* to change the channel. I haven't heard any commercials advertising, "please don't change the channel because if you don't buy the next product, our station is going out of business."
According to your theory, jbrown, someone who downloads mp3's for personal use is a thief and deserves childish smile faces except for you of course because you have a whopping 300cd's you paid $ for and only download an "occasional" mp3.
your words again, "...but that doesn't give me a right to steal"
**Newsflash**
if i steal 10 mp3's and you steal 1 mp3 then you ARE doing exactly the same thing you hate.
i've learned a few things along the way jb. i'll share them with you as others have shared w/me.
1. the truth hurts
2. think before you speak
3. payback is a mutha f*cker
here i'll give you a minute to think about that...
[now dont hurt yourself, im not through with you]
normally i'd let this part slide but since my post was so vague and your's so accusitory and hateful i'm going to continue.
i am too broke to buy cd's??? 'Well allow me to retort...'
im sure you make a killing as a Residential Audio/blahblahblah/ Engineer. right bro. and im a custodial engineer.
Of course to afford a 30K dollar car REALLY means you've made it in this world of million dollar ones and pirated music. What about when you overcharge people? do you report all your income to the IRS? give back money you find? need more examples?
i sure hope you're catching on GUMP because dealing with an obvious genius like yourself is getting to be very difficult. your wit and intelligence somehow overpower your charm and good looks and i become tounge tied, unable to respond to the harsh reality and truth of your words. Here i'll try one last time...
The hypocracy and stupidity you exhibit is so astounding that it should be monitored and recorded for future generations to laugh at.

With all this talk about the source of MP3s burned to CDR, I would like to add my two cents to the fold:
Why is it that--with technology advanced to the point that it's really cheap to manufacture/produce audio CDs for retail, and retail CD packaging costs are so minimal compared to the days when they came in those long cardboard boxes--that the retail price of a full-length new-release CD from a major recording artist costs almost as much now--if not more--than it did when music CDs were first introduced to the public (wasn't it around 1986 or so?) And also that quite a few older music CDs costs as much as some old movies released on DVD?
Now, I'm not advocating that people "steal" from the record companies by downloading MP3s to their hearts content, but at the same time, given the above, I can't really blame them either.
And it's not as if the major record labels are suffering that much--gee, if EMI can afford to buyout Mariah Carey's contract for $28 million--that doesn't convince me that the record industry is getting screwed. Recording artists, perhaps; label bigwigs--I don't think so...

Thats why I opted to get the 2001 TL and get a cd changer. The 6 cd changer in-dash doesnt quite tickle my feathers, especially if something were jammed (Thats 6 cd's crying to be played). But its true, the dealer shouldnt be treating you like crap.

Type SSSS,
I don't want to lose too much of the point of this thread, but flaming usually does.
If I "steal" an mp3, I don't distribute it or burn it onto a CD for use elsewhere, not that I am justifying my admittedly 100% ILLEGAL actions. If I really like that stolen mp3 I without fail try to find a few more songs on the same disc, if the disc is worth buying, I BUY IT. If the disc sucks and there is only one good song, I usually don't, but sometimes can't resist and just transfer it from the crappy CD along with a few other one-hit songs onto a CD-R. The difference between you and me is that I at least put money back into the system instead of just being a parasitic leech. I admit that I steal mp3's, but not as a replacement for the much better sounding and far less convenient CD's that pay the artists' exorbitant salaries.
How do you think radio and TV stations make their money? Do you think nice people who like their programs just walk in the door and hand them money, maybe at PBS, but that's it. I have worked for the owners of Paxson communications and Fairbanks Communications, and these guys arent rich because more nice people just give them lots of money for having nice radio and tv stations. How did you hear about your car before you bought it? from an ad? From a friend who saw an ad? Probably not because you don't watch, read, or listen to any commercials because you are better than all of us and free from our ad-ridden world.
I did not say you were a custodial engineer, I just alluded that you spent all of your money on your car and had none left for CD's. Read it how you want, we can't all love our jobs, but being a janitor isn't so bad if you like it, I mean you did manage to save up for an Acura.
And actually I do report 100% of my income and only take the "standard deduction" every year on my taxes because I am lazy and don't feel like looking that hard for all of my deductions. I didn't even try to claim the $5k I lost in a bad business venture this year because it would have screwed my friend and ex-partner, though he isn't doing anything illegal, it just would have insanely complicated his accounting.
And as broke-@ss Residential Audio/blahblahblah/ Engineer, I actually have morals and don't overcharge anyone since I am soo poor that money doesn't matter to me. Actually one of my customers paid for the car since I overcharged him so much, but I don't feel bad since he made so much money NOT selling advertising on his radio stations.
I also give back found money if possible and let my cashier know when she gives me back too much change, not that I expect you to believe me since theft is all you know, you probably even stole your car, didn't you.
Anyway, flame flame flame, blah blah blah, spew spew spew, yeah whatever your mom.

Listen up Gumps'
my point is that nobody is perfect. i am not perfect and i never implied that i was. you can justify your actions any way you see fit. you want to talk trash, insult people, lie to yourself...ok. whatever makes you feel better when you look in the mirror or shoot your mouth off without thinking.
and i am flaming you? listen up bro, you're the one with the childish smile faces - flappin your lips - flippin me off - bringing my mom into this. real mature.
as for you THo: you want in on this too? not your fight but welcome to it. you think less of me? i guess i should be flattered that you used to think more of me??? i think so much of you i am going to tell you the horrible truth - here goes -
i am NOT really an air traffic controller making 100K a year. i am a low life street thug whose only goal in life is to steal a few cars and download some music off the web. i don't really own a big house and four cars and the real shame is that i traded my wife for the benz. i tell people i bought it from my mom for 10 grand but thats just a cover.
this will be my last post on this subject. its tired and you two are boring and immature.
this post was never meant to go this far. the author only wanted a simple answer to a simple question, not a lesson on morality. my apologies to him and the mods for contributing to this nonsense...
