Grease used
Any of the white lithium products is my preferred lubricant. At the moment I'm using a can of a Dupont product that also has Teflon in it. About $9 for a 10 oz can. See How to Grease a Car Door, Hood, Lock, and Latch

Although not likelly to do any harm, the Shin-Etsu grease is not intended for metal on metal latches. Rather, and quoting Honda, it is designed to lubricate, condition, and protect rubber gaskets and seals. This grease is designed to be used for:
- Door seals
- Window seals
- Targe top seals
- Convertible seals
- Sunroof seals
- Window run track seals
- Helps prevent annoying rubber squeaking
- Helps prevent water from dripping in on convertibles
