Re-Badge Emblems

Hey guys hows it goin?

New here but I just picked up my TL today. Its a Gun metal-ish dark grey (forgot the actual name of the color) 2003 TL-S with 73k on the meter in really good condition. It has navi and all those other goodies. My previous car was a lifted 4runner with 33's..so big change in type of automobiles but still loving the Acura. It's stock for now, but Ill post pics of it tom if I have time. Im not new to car forums and I know how much people like pics so ill get em up as soon as i can haha.

Anyways on with my question..
The previous owner debadged the trunk. Everything except for the actual Acura emblem (the oval one). I know a lot of people prefer the debadged look but I want to put the "A-C-U-R-A" and "3.2 TL type S" back on.
I havent been able to find it anywhere and was wondering if you guys would know where I could get a hold of some. I checked ebay and craigslist but i found nothing, I dunno might be using the wrong keywords. I know a lot of you guys debadge your cars, maybe would like to sell it to me? Just looking for the stock chrome ones.

Thanks in advance for the help. This forum looks great and I look forward to gaining knowledge and contributing what I can.

welcome to the forum- after you have been here a while you can post in the items wanted- but for now:
'go to the top of any page here and click Off Topic- at top right corner
then scroll down to Sponsored Sales and check there, MrHeelToe has a large selection from stock acura letters to Japanese model things like INSPIRE in script or block writing
www.heeltoeauto.com will get you the main page and find emblems from there

hey thanks 01tl4tl appreciate the link. Doesn't look like heeltoeauto has the stock "A-C-U-R-A" and "3.2 TL type S" emblems though just the JDM ones and stuff. Any other place that someone can steer me too? Thanks.

I ordered from acuraoemparts.com ... very fast, very efficient service.

An alternative is: hondacuraworld.com ... it's probably not on their website any more ... call the 800-number. You can start a price war! LOL.

i would check your local honda/acura junkyard. you could probably do this for that price and $6 in double sided tape.

its not hard to line up with a picture at hand if you have it. walk around the mall and take a picture. you only need to measure the distance between 2 of the letters and put that distance between each of them. i did this with my INSPIRE badging -- thread somewhere.

Use double sided tape to put them back on. 3M emblem adhesive SUCKS! I had to hold my emblem in place for over ten minutes waiting for that stuff to cure and it still doesn't sit perfectly flat against the trunk.

the tape is better. http://www.levineautoparts.com/3m06384.html found at pepboys (thats where i usually get it). i just layout a few strips side by side (unstuck) and then place the emblem on it. then i cut around the emblem with a disposable razor blade.

Don't they come from dealerships on a strip of tape pre-spaced with adhesive? Maybe I came up with that outa nowhere but I'm pretty sure I've seen that.

yeah they do. but its not hard to line up on a piece of cellophane tape then put it onto the car.

this is how i did it (except with inspire badging):-
1) have friend or find a nice big clear pic of the rear of the car head on so you can zoom in on the letters
2) put a little double sided tape on each letter (After cleaning the old tape off) and stick it to the screen over the letter zoomed into the size the real life letter is.
3) if your screen isnt big enough, you will need to take a long piece of clear packing tape or cellophane tape and stick it across the letters on the screen so you can pull them off.
4) take tape and letters off screen. scroll over on the picture so one or two of the letters you just pulled off is still on there and stick it back onto the screen -- with the tape still on it!
5) repeat until all the letters are done
