QUICK INTAKE QUESTION s :)

I have a AEM short ram intake with an K&N Filter on it, I purchased the intake and filter somewhere within June of last yr 2004, I was wonder how long do i usally have to change the filter again? Every 6 months or so? Does winter? or lot of rain make it wear out faster? What problems can i be expierencing with a bad intake filter? Anything like bad idling? Please help,

I have the CAI, and this filter has been on for about a year and a half. I finally cleaned it about 4 monthes ago, and it wasn't too bad.

you dont change it...you get the cleaning kit and clean and re-oil it every 15-30k miles or when it looks dirty to you, nothing complicated. and unless you have not cleaned your filter for 10 years, it wont do a thing to your idle

no...clean the filter every 3000miles, you'll be surprised how dirty it gets

I use the K&N filter cleaning kit that costs like $5 -> HIGHLY RECOMENDED

you are waisting your money big time - they flow just fine with over 10 times that mileage

its not flow...its dirt getting into the engine. Watever it is, everytime i pull it (every oil change) it takes 3min to get the filter out, and 5 of cleaning time (rest is wait time). The kit costs $5 and can be reused about 5times (+)

i'll check online, i'm sure i read correctly. pull the filter every 3000mi and it'll be dirty as hell!

According to this: K&N Tips , you can go up to 50K miles between cleanings for normal driving. However, the cleaning intervals really depend on your environment.

Cleaning at every 3K miles is definitely overkill and is going to decrease the overall life of your filter. I usually clean my filters every 10-15K miles.

I C. i'll just clean every 6000miles from now on. I really dont care about having to pay $50 for a new cone filter after ~90,000miles (after 20cleans K&N recomends every 25). Keep it clean

rep points to Timmy!!
o wait mods eliminated that ga.yness
