Questions on installing stuff.....

I'm getting some things installed tomorrow and I have a few questions, hopefully they will be answered before I leave.

Getting brakes done, Rotors/Pads/Brake Lines installed. I was reading that people bleed the brake system. I sort of don't understand this, but I think it just getting the brake fluid through the whole system right?

So the mechanic asked if I had any brake fluid but I don't. So he said he will provide it. Does that mean he is going to bleed the system?

Also, when installing the Rotors/Pads, he just reuses the nuts/bolts right?

Getting Lots stuff done Rotors/Pads/Brake Lines/Springs/Struts/Front Lip/TypeS Pedals

Can't wait! Just going to make me my car more! Still more things planned, but that'll come later.

Usually the mechanic will use their own brake fluid...if they dont bleed the system it will be used to top off the master cylinder. Most of the brake jobs that I do also inolve bleeding the system but most shops wont do them hand in hand unless requested.

Use dot3 or dot4 break fluid, not dot 5 ..
dot4 its better if you drive it hard.. ive done rotors/pads/breaklines/brakefluid change all at the same time last year too, you will really enjoy !

I don't drive hard, mainly city driving. But it wouldn't hurt to have better braking.

So I should tell my mechanic to bleed my brake system when I drop off my car?

Whats the difference between Dot3/4/5?? My Helm's manual says to use DOT3

Change the break fluid at the same time will be a great idea because ill be easy to do at this time .. i think is the boiling temperature.. and i think dot3 are mineral and dot4 syntetic but really unsure about this..

Thanks for the clarification guys.

Well I'm going to ride the brakes gently for the first 300-500 miles. But is the bedding really necessary?

Also, usually how long would you guys let your springs/stocks settle before you get an alinement?

Thanks again.

Its not necessary but it helps. Id just go ahaead and have it done or do it your self. It isnt that expensive to have done or do. If you have more than a few years or 30k miles its recomended. you should feel a better pedal feel from doing so

I never understood why people put emblems on a car representing something they dont have?? Why type S pedals? Its not a Type S? Are you going to put a big Powered by Acura Sticker on it too? Not trash talkin just dont understand. Thats like these yahoo's that put a Type-R sticker or emblem on their 91 SOHC Integra. Anyway other than that nice mods, you will enjoy.

His signature clearly states that he has an '03 Type-S.

What's wrong with putting a Type-S thing on a Type-S?

Um, heres an idea

I do have a Type-S. I understand what you are saying though. I don't like posers myself. Maybe I should have just stated "aftermarket pedals" instead of "Type-S pedals".

I got those pedals long time ago (maybe like 2 years ago) from www.autovation.com , just never really wanted to mod my car till recently.

So could anyone shed some light on this question....
How long you guys let your springs/shocks settle before you get an alignment done? I'm about to make a 500 mile trip in 2 weeks. Should I get an alignment done after or before that trip?

Two weeks is more than enough time to let the new suspension settle. Definitely get it done before the trip.
