I have 2000 tl and I want to change 2002 tl tail light... should i order wiring harness too?? or just order tail light??

 

i think you can just order the light. I took my tail off several times already and i don't see why you need new wires.

 

order the harness, otherwise you have to tape up one of the lights to make it sit right and you take the chance of it falling out or breaking from rattling around.

or don't and I can say "I told you so"

the harness of the 00 and 01 fit the 02 lights all but one bulb. i just use electrical tape to tape that one up. No point of buying a new harness just for that. waste of money.

it sad when modifying a 30K car is done half-ass because it would require spending an additional $15!!

 

definitely order the 2002 tail lights with the wiring harness... and to make your life easier and order the amber turn signals...

I think the reverse lights are different too.

It's just the turn signal light, but still get the harness.

You will still have to buy the bulbs.

I also agree that if you bought a TL, you shouldn't be concerned about saving such a petty amount of money.

Do it right, or don't do it at all.

What color signal bulbs do you guys have? call me silly to ask this question but is white bulbs for turning legal? what about red?

 

i am using Cuzzo Super whites. all are illegal except yellow i think

youve got it the wrong way around...yellow is the only color thats legal

Yep, the turn signals require some tape to hold the harness and bulb in place.... Harness isn't necessarily needed, but would be a better idea to get the harness..

I don't think you understand... The 99-01 lights have the yellow reflector and the bulb is white so when it turns on, the turn signal is orange. You take that white bulb out and put it in the 02 lights which are clear and the turn signal is white, which is illegal. That's why you need a yellow bulb when switching to the 02 lights.

 

I don't know about other states but rearward signaling lights must flash amber or red in color in the state of Californa. I think someone tried red but it looked pink. I dont remember who it was.

Yeah, get the harness. The harness will complete the tail coversion mod. Of course, you don't need the harness. You can just tape it up (ghetto, IMHO). Or not even tape it but push it in. It won't be stable but I don't think it will rattle that much to the point the bulb will brake.

My harness didn't arrive until a couple of weeks after I received my tails. Therefore, I had my signla light dangling inside. The trunk liner is sturdy enough to keep the light bulb pressed inward to the tails. And I didn't have any problem with it (for a couple of weeks).

To make this a truly plug and play propostion I would suggest you get both the tails and the harnesses plus the special bulbs required for the turn signal.We currently have all of these parts in stock at our dealership and they can ship this to you if you need it.Amber or red turn signals are legal no other color may be used,but depending on your area and it's police force you can probably get away with other colors.jens

 

Yeah....Why don't you spend $15 and buy the wire harness too? It's better than putting the tape around the socket....

 

Where can i get som red bulbs at? Is amber color orange? Thanks
