Question about alternators?

I have a 1999 tl and I need an alternator and don't have much money right now to be spending to buy a new alternator so I found a used 1 from a 2003 tl ...Are they interchangeable ? or are they different?

make sure to have a parts store retest the entire system after new alt
to make sure the battery is ok

Often, one parts failure takes out the other one,,say if you drove a serious distance getting home with the charging light On (been there in other car)

a non-op alt. makes the system suck all the juice from battery- which it doesnt like at all~

Compare part numbers? On an Acura website to see if the OEM numbers are the same, it's what I would do.

If you decide to buy mine,
I'll let it go for $120.
Less than 500 miles on it, you'll have to transfer your pulley.

Part numbers wont mean they wont fit. I have my 00 alt on a 2003 type-s motor. They have different part numbers but works just fine. Honda pretty much used the same alt on the J series, only difference is the amperage. If i remember right the type-s had a higher amp than the base.

I meant to try that as a way, to get an idea if it would work, I mean win-win, if the numbers matched right?
But for sure they more than likely would fit.
I'm kinda picky with my car, so it has to have the part in came with from the factory.
It's also true that Acura could have superseded to another newer part number.
(I prefer less headaches when I have to diagnose something related to a wrong part number later on).

Hope you figure it out buddy.

Thanks alot everyone for the help. I found a shop in my area that does a complete rebuild on alternators and starters and it cost about half the price of a brand new part and they can do it in 2 hrs. So if anyone needs something like this done in the queens ny area let me know. Thanks again for all your help everyone
