ques. on rpms
not sure, but i check to see if my performance is lost or not, just to check if im in the average tls, on FIFTH GEAR at xactly 2000 rpms, i am right in between 71-73 mph(when i first got the car it was 73, then dropped slightly), cruisin steadily..... what bout you guys, stock (did you guys gain any?), and modified? im askin this cause i think there is something wrong with the engine in my car so.......
The car has an overdrive, that may be part of it.
Put it in top gear, and go like 60 mph, slowly push on the pedal so you accelerate, and start to bog the engine. When the car detects, that you need a little better acceleration, (that you may be accelerating to pass instead of just cruising a little faster) it will do its little half-downshift thing, where there's sort of an intermediate gear beteween 4th and 5th. You'll see the rpm's jump up maybe 500 rpm's or 700 or so.
When the car feels that you don't need that extra omph, then it'll go back to normal 5th gear. Its harder to detect it going back to 5th. So do the little trick, go pretty slow, maybe 45 - 60 in 5th and ease on the throttle. You'll feel the car minishift (gotta be lookin for it, its pretty subtle, or trannies are soft)
Anwyays, the first time you got your car you may have read it at this 4th and a half gear, which would read higher than true 5th.
I think its actually ...3rd, 4th, 5th, and overdrive. (instead of ...3rd, 4th, 4th and a half, 5th) But I already wrote all that, so I'll leave it that way.

i can be cruisin @ about 70-75 and my rpms read about 2000-2500
