projector retro fit question

I have an 02 tl-s and I have read the diy. However all he says is to use factory projectors. I would like to know what size the projectors are. Since factory projectors I jave found are costly. I have a friend that gets aftermarket stuff and does this type of thing on the side. He can help but wants to know what size they need to be before we start
Because this is my daily driver I wont be able to just take them apart and let it sot for a few days while I wait on shipping. Thanks for any help.

you can use any projector you want. Some will take more customizing than others. Some of the Bixenon are larger and you may have to modify more. Go to the retrofit source and see what they have. they have great stuff.

I looked at retrofit and the bixenon os a 3 inch. Is bigger better or would a smaller unit produce a better beam?

The out put on a projector has more to do with the lens, I've had a set of 04 tsx projectors for many years, got them for free from body shop, as i was looking for some shrouds recently i read that the 1g tsx projector is one of the best factory projector, better than the s2000 tsx are they are 2.5

You could always buy projectors and swap the lens, a lens can get expensive, it would be cheaper to get a better set of projectors then to start swapping lenses

It all comes down to personal preference. Are you more concerned with looks (colorband, color flicker, etc...), performance (output, width, etc...), or a combination of both?

The TL Bixenon is known to be one of the best. There is better glass available for most projectors. I bought the zkw lenses for mine (audi headlight conversion). I still have yet to pull the head lights apart to swap but fully plan on it. HID planet is a great source for more info.

Well looks are not tje main concern. I have 12000 k bulbs and am changing to 55w ballasts so color band isn't important. looking to try and get a better beam mostly
Since I now have a d2c bulb in a reflector housing.

Clear lenses arent about looks, its about light output. If all You want better light output get rid of the crap tastic 12k and get something useable like 5k. Blue doesnt look cool or help you see better

I'm actually pretty happy with the 12k. They are better than my hi beam. And the 55w ballasts are gonna wash out the color anyway. So I think for now ill stick with them but if I decide to change I have a pair of 6k.
