Ok folks I need some help on some decision making....
Now that I have a private buyer for my '96 3.2TL, I am definitely going to get a new 3.2TL Type S Navi, but I can't decide on a couple of issues that I think some of you can help out on:
1. Silver or Black Type S? Right now my '96TL is dark green, much darker than the new green on the new Type S, so I don't want it. So it's between Silver and Black...Silver will hide the scratches but Black at night is sweet. For those that have Silver TL's, why did you pick Silver, for those with black, why did you choose black????? If you had to pick over would you keep your color or change out?
2. Ebony or Parchment Leather? I have parchment in my current '96TL and it's held up pretty good, but it can show wear. I like the parchment in the Black Type S, but the ebony is nice too (only option on Sliver ext.). EXCEPT for the fake looking marble trim on the ebony interior, I don't like that at all (no offense people). If I choose ebony leather, I would definitely replace the fake marble trim with a dark wood trim kit (like in the beauty S4). This site doesn't allow you to see the color/style of the wood kits, only the parts and price. So I guess I have two questions:
-Which hides the wear and tear better, parchment or ebony leather? Evolaerok, why did you choose parchment in your black TL?
-If you have Ebony leather, which wood trim kit did/would you put in, and how much would it cost to get it installed? Yee and Bdimc2001 was your burlwood trim kit factory or third party? Who put the kit in for you? HELP!!!!
Let me say THANK YOU in advance, I need to move on this purchase in a week but right now I am full of indecision....
Thanks again,
Carlos Thompson

Wow, a lot of questions.
I'll try to answer some, Ext color: ur preference but my prev car was black and if u plan on owning the car for more than 3-4 yrs than you'll be seeing a lot of scratches and swirl marks, its EXTREMELY tough to keep nice, silver is easier b/c it hides everything but the thing is everybody and their mother has a silver car( especially in the Northeast, which is why I got WDP)
Interior: I'm sure both sides will tell you that both are pretty equal in their wear and tire and how well they hide dirt. Black probably shows scratches in the leather more, but the parch prob shows dirt a little more. So ultimately go for the color combo u like the best.
I agree with u though that the black marble trim is nappy(IMO)
That was one of the deciding factors when I was trying to figure out if I wanted ABP with black int or WDP with parch.

Like you said, silver hide the scratch better. Black look sweet if you properly maintain it(wash and wax).
I got silver because I'm a little lazy. It's hard to tell if the car is dusty or dirty until you put your hand on it.
I believe silver only come in ebony interior. The black leather wear better. It's hard to tell if there is cracking in it or not. Give the car a more youthful look.

1. NOTHING beats a clean black car with chrome rims at night.:wow: I have a black 99 TL and it is off-da-hook!
I have the parchment interior and it has held up great. I did not want ebony interior because it gets too hot in the summer. I also got the burlwood trim kit from the factory and it looks great.
Final verdict:
Black TL-S w/navi, OEM bodykit, and dropped = :wow: :wow: :wow:

I definitely agree that there is nothing better than a freshly-waxed black car, but I just don't like how every little scratch, rock chip, swirl and piece of dust stands out. It all depends on the amount of time you want to spend washing and waxing I guess.
I agree with nameeri, JOIN TEAM SILVER!!!!!
Good luck with the purchase!

1. Get white if you want to look like a girlie man. Kidding, but I do think the white is a little feminine looking.
2. I've had two silver TLs and I've never once regretted it. The car looks great even when its dirty. The black TLs I've seen all look like $hit when they get even a little dirty. Sorry, but that's my opinion.
3. I owned a dark green Legend Coupe, a black Legend 4 Door, a black Integra, a black 280ZX, and a black Infiniti J30. Black drives you crazy. I agonized over the decision not to get the black TL the first time, but once I had the silver I loved it.
4. Silver shows all the lines of the car sooo well. Black doesn't really show any of the lines of the TL and really makes the car look rather non-descript by "blurring" the lines...making the car look like many other black sedans on the road.
5. The black bowling ball trim. I didn't like it until I got my car and realized that its really almost unnoticeable after a while. It just adds a really nice shiny accent to the entirely black interior of my car. I really like the fake black wood look now. The brown wood that I had in my silver TL was so fake looking. I didn't care for it at all.
I hope this helps, and I'm not intending to offend anyone...these are just my opinions.

More bowling ball jealosy
I agree with Yute (except for that silver thing
), it comes down to how much time you want to spend on you car. If washing/detailing your car isn't something you enjoy go with silver. If you don't mind spending some time with you car - go black on black. There are somethings you can do like putting Zaino on you car - went from washing every 3 or so days to being able to go a couple of weeks without washing.
There are some bowling ball hata's around here but on the otherhand I like it, I just added most of the pieces from the aftermarket trim kit, and have had nothing but complements on it.

...
Remote start and auto up/down windows only two weeks away.
Woohoo!!!
Go with your gut feeling.
I've owned black cars and while they are THE BEST LOOKING when they're brand new and all shined up, they are also the worst looking once your car gets swirl marks all over it - and it will. Nothing is worse than a black car when the sun hits it at just the right angle (or should I say WRONG angle) and you see swirls all over.
I agree with tea elle that silver shows off the lines of the TL better. I LOVE my silver TL-S. Not to mention that it is soooo much easier to keep clean than any black car I've ever owned.
And I don't think the bowling ball trim looks bad at all...much better than some of the fake brown wood trim I've seen on other cars.
