Painting engine cover

What kind of paint do I use, I can do this myself right? Do suggest and specific brand of paint? Thanks.

It's pretty easy. you can do it yourself, spray the battery cover too. I did red because my cone air filter is already red.

Most car places would have it, just get a paint that can stand HIGH temperatures. I got mine at Pep Boys, they have a high selection of paint. Sand the cover with a fine sandpaper to scratch up the plastic so the paint can get into it. Then paint a few layers sanding each time with a very very very fine sandpaper (get the finest you can find) after about 4 coats it should be pretty smooth. Then spray paint some clear primer, and sand with extremely fine paper. spray until your desired gloss. Good Luck, take pics when you finish. Oh yeah, make sure the cover is dry before you sand it. I did one coat a night and left it in my shed.

you dont need HIGH temp paint. the plastic never gets that hot. if it got that hot it would melt. and standard paint can withstand they types of temps found in the engine compartment. pick out any standard color you like and it will work
