Was your temp on your climate control set to hot. Sometimes it will get warm in there because of that. Perhaps your ducts for the rear arent aligned right and heat is escaping inside your center console.

OPEN the rear center ducts so the air can get out- otherwise it just keeps getting pumped there and ....
You can remove the center access and put insulating pipe wrap tape on the plastic air channel device to keep the temps contained

"open my rear vents" Such a simple answer....never thought of that lol....

On another note has anyone ever had their drink spill and it seeps into the arm rest compartment...why would they leave a hole between the cup holder area and that...its really annoying to clean. But does it serve some magical purpose...?

I plug my car cell phone charger in the 12V outlet inside the center console, then run the plug end through that hole so I can charge my phone and just leave it resting in my cup holder.

I do the exact same. I have a charger I run through for my iPod as well so that it can charge and sit handy enough for me to change songs on a whim.

The open access area under the shifter/cup holder area is to allow that spilled soda a way to get to the very hard to reach shifter micro switches~
and damage them
Just wait till it wont work in SS mode and then tear the center console out-----
