I would strongly recommend doing it yourself. For the $30.00 you can purchase Mobil 1 synthetic oil, and a quality filter (I use Purolator or Bosch). The process is very simple. I raise the car a bit to slide my pan under the drain plug, and let out the oil for a good 20-30 mins. I also lower the car as much as possible in order to get out every last drop. While that is going on, I remove the old filter and clean the mating surface and threads in preparation for the new filter. Before putting the new filter on, I place some oil in the filter and run my oil-coated finger around the gasket and internal (female) threads. Then I simply put the new filter on hand tight. I like doing this myself becuase I can ensure it is only hand tight! Commercial places tend to screw the filter on much too tight...which is unnecessary and can cause problems later when you try to remove it.

Don't forget to flip your washer and clean around the washer/drain bolt and the hole. Put the drain bolt back in and tighten...but not too much. A good snug fit should suffice.
Clean around the oil fill as well as the cap. Then pour in your new oil....a little less than 5 quarts. Clean any spills and you are set.
Now this is the important thing.................
Check for any leaks around your new filter and the drain bolt with the car running! I have never had a leak....but you never know.
Good Luck!

Why do you need to pour in so much oil? Everytime I change my oil, I put in 4 quarts. Sometime just a tad over that but never close to 5 quarts. The reading on the dipstick is always perfect, right between the two circle.

And I totally agree - changing your own oil is the best way to go cuz you know you did it right.

4 & 1/2 sounds right to me. If I buy a box of Mobil1 (6 quarts), it always leaves me one and a half quart.

What exactly do you do with the old oil once it's in that big plastic tub? Dump it into the nearest creek?

Most places take recycled oil these days. I drop mine off at my local Pep Boys, but gas stations and even quick-lubes take them these days.

Well here in Chicago, they charge you $2 recycling fee. But I just drop it off in front of Walmart's Auto center in the middle of the night.

Maybe they started charging here as well . I just stop the car, leave it in the pile near the service bays, and drive off (during the day ).

if you're looking to have someone put mobil 1 in your car, it'll cost you a lot more than $30. $30 is for regulary oil and oem filter. regular oil costs about 1/3 the price of mobil 1 synthetic ($1.50 vs. $4.50 per quart). so unless you're willing to do it yourself, you prob will not get mobil one put in you car for less than $30.

You can bring your own oil and have dealers do it. I had my
96 Maxima done this way, and they charge about $10~$15
for it. Guess they just subract the cost of their cheap oil.
I also had Acura dealer change my 02 TL-S twice and costs
are about the same (~$15), but I started changing it myself
after that. I found that they do tighten the filter and the plug
too much. I will do the oil change myself from now on cause
you can get the filter and the oil you want, and you can make
sure it's done the way you like.

Would it be alright to raise it using the jack that comes with the car? If it isn't too far in, I suppose I can just reach under the car and unscrew the drain bolt/filter without going underneath it...

You'll never get Mobile 1 oil change for $30 at a oil change place.

If you take it in somewhere, you're looking at $50 at the minumum.

It'll cost somewhere around $30 in oil and filter alone if you do it yourself. Add another $15-$20 for labor. I would recommend doing it yourself and save the $$$.
