Oil change
3k has been shown to be "over doing it", even with dino oil, you could go every 5k miles, and most full synthetics about 10k. I use amsoil in both cars and its rated at 25k per change based on replacing the oil filter at ever 12.5k. On my bike, i go about 5k with full synthetic amsoil.

If it didnt turn dark in color id be worried that the oil wasnt doing its job. Ive been using fram extended gaurd filters for the life of teh car

I also use Mobil 1, used Mobil1 Extended once, but I am not going to use it anymore.
Its not GF-4 compliant, but regular Mobil 1 is GF-4 compliant.
GF-4 supposed to be more fuel efficent, but who the hell knows by how much ( 0.00000001 % ? )
I usually go 6000-7000 K miles on it, and the only reason is that I drive 10K miles a year.... otherwise I would do 10K miles just like you. don't want to have too much moisture build up. I use M1 oil filter.

Well, I agree with you, but there is a different theory that holds some water.
Those companies don't want you to drive your car forever, they want you to buy a new one

Mobil1 5w30 extended and put in the same stuff in

I change mine every 7-8k miles, just when I have time to get to. Im sure I could go longer (obviously), but after about 6 months, I kinda just want to do it. I use Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic with the Mobil 1 filter. I have never had any leak or problem yet, and I will do the same from now on. I change my wife's car at 4-5k miles because she only gets dyno oil ('97 mustang...)

Let me throw this at you, why did MOBIL 1 all of a sudden come out with 5k, 7.5k, 15k? Its the same damn oil as before, just relabeled b/c: 1. Amsoil proved their stuff was far superior to Mobil and you could go anywhere from 7500 - 25k or even 100k for semi's on Amsoil oil 2: Amsoil proved that oil is changed to often before its protection is actually used up, yes you can go 5k with dino oil, what do you think honda puts in at the dealership, or at least sell on the shelf, its not full sythetic and they recommend per the manual i think 7,500 miles.
Unless you run your engine at 5k - redline all day long, which no one on this board does with an acura or any TL out there for that matter, then noone needs to change their oil every 3k unless they are driving through a dust cloud all the time. My g/f's aunt use to work for Mobil and now works for Chevron, said the same thing i just stated above and below. Even said how people are so scared to switch to full synthetic b/c its soo thin it will cause leaks, umm, bs, a 5W-30 or a 5W-20 is the same weight per dino to semi to full synthetic, its the compound and construction of the molecules that makes up the oil, and full synthetic has perfectly lined up molecules and a whole other bunch of crap. Really, it comes down to the filter, a crappy filter will do you more harm than letting the oil go at longer intervals. Here, take a gander at this online article: http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/FilterXRef.html

The only people pushing 3k changes are the guys charging for them, and the ones selling the oil. If you want to waste your money, go for it, but you are getting no benefit from it.

in the canadian honda/acura owner manual it's scheduled to change at 3750 miles instead of 6500miles due to the sereve weather in canada
b4 i switched to syn, i still get my oil changed at around 4-5k miles, now with amsoil/motul, i still changed at 5k, but i can feel that the oil can last much longer than that

but synthetic still performs well
I change the oil as often as possible so the cutey neighbor across the street thinks I'm a big bad car guy instead of a nerd. I even beat the hell out of old rotors with a hammer to make noise. Maybe she looked and saw me and now is in love
