OEM KIT AND AEM V2 - installed - my thoughts.

today i installed the oem kit and aem v2.

my thoughts on the oem kit: i love the front and the sides but to me the rear still sits very very high. i also have a h&r sport drop. i may swap it out and get the WW rear lip.

AEM V2: there is a audible humming sound from the intake. im not talking about the hiss. but a HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM if you get to bumper level by crouching down. its so loud that you cant sit there for more than a few minutes. im not sure if this is normal though?

yeah thats normal...even stock our TL's have a idle humming
i have a AEM CAI, and the humming is very quiet, or maybe its because the air sucking sound is louder

but yeah, you shouldnt have to worry about the humming

I have an AEM V2, and mine hums loudly. It's very audible when you're in the car w/ the windows open. It's loud enough that I've had people comment about it... It's dissapointing.

The hum is also audible with the stock airbox without the resonator. The resonator is what dampens the sound. I have the resonator out and you can only hear it when next to car or in a tunnel with the windows rolled down.

I had that HUMMMMM when my bypass valve broke. That was always the sound it made when there was a hole in my intake. I have a hose now instead of the bypass and I don't hear a hummm anymore. I always thought the HMMMM was when air was leaking. I guess Injen and AEM are different that way.

which is why i went through the hassle last year of removing my resonator, (without removing bumper or lifting the caa)....(was hell)....then hearing the resulting LOUD ASS hum, and putting everything back in......then i got an INJEN RD CAI, and the hum isn't as loud.....i've forgotten about it now too....

for those of you with the V2. you know the rubber sleeve that the intake goes into. mine has a hole on either side for two hoses. on the intake itself there is another hole for another hose. our tl only has two hoses that go to the stock intake so what is the hole for on the rubber piece? when i cover it, the hum gets louder.......
