I started gasket matching/porting and polishing the heads and lower intake runners, intake mani. While the openings all seem to be the same size in dia, they dont match up anywhere near properly. Opening them up some and gasket matching them should drastically help flow.
You can see here how much of a difference there is between the gasket and the opening. Each opening is different showing that there is Quite a variance in matching up (can be seen when the pieces are held together and looked down that they dont match perfectly, not shown).
Here is one that i started to open up and matching

Nice work I had the same thing done to my runners when I had Paul make me a set. It's one of the few things I noticed when I put it on. It makes the car pull hard up top and feels like it far me some torque down low

Starting to open the heads up. As seen by looking thru the runner into the head you can see the red marking there is a lot to remove there as well now. Once removed ill fine tune the ports and heads by polishing them and making sure every thing matches exactly

Looks like its coming along great. I need to port and polish the heads once I get the new motor as well since I already have ported and polished runners. With the 09 intake manifold, larger throttle body, and a 4" intake I should be getting a lot of air into the motor.

Ok I swear I've searched 3 parts sites and can't find it so please be nice when I ask this: is there a gasket from the lower runners to the heads or does it just bolt up?? I've searched intake manifold, engine assembly, and every category seeming related and can't find either the lower runners (just curious about price) or if there's a gasket.

TL-P and TL-S use the same lower Porting and polishing makes the difference. Wait till you open up the heads to match. (its done on my current motor and probably part of the reason my motor is as strong as it is)

for higher compression right?

Yes, to raise compression (also as to blueprint the engine, meaning everything is as close to perfect tolerance wise as possible)

Humm. Thats odd, all 3 sets of mine measure 43-44mm with the variances in casting (with the exception of my mdx ones ive ported and polished which now measure 46mm

Looking at acura parts, They have the same part number (1st 5 digits). Compared to My old TL-p ones laying in my garage, they are the exact size as the MDX ones im porting, which would be the same as the type-s ones, as the 02 mdx and type-s have the exact same part number- all digits). The uppers between the 2 are different though.
