Not official kill, but still felt good

I raced a G35 coupe (manual) last night. I have an '03 TL-S.

The light changed and I floored it (no SS or such). I pulled slightly ahead (his front bumper was aligned with my door) and stayed there till about 80mph when he had to slow down because there was a car in his lane. I don't chaulk it up as an official kill, but felt good nonetheless.

good work! kinda the same thing happened to me this past weekend. an out of state mustang gt was trying to toy with me. i saw him speed up for the flyby so i floored it and walked away from him. he had to slow down eventually though because he had a car in his lane too. it felt good though

nice victory. i got a friend with G35 6 speed 4door. he never wants to race me cause he says he can smoke my car anyday...thinks it's waste of time.

i think he can beat me too, but not by a lot.

Just to let you guys know... we will lose to the G35 COUPE. If its 6speed like the one on this thread... we dont stand a chance if he knows how to properly shift. And even if we beat it off the line, they blow past us at 85-90mph and we can't keep up. I've raced and know from experience. I intially beat him, then he caught up with me at 85 and took me and kept on going.

G35Coupe has a lot of high end power.

the kid deffinatley didnt know how to drive the g35 if it was a 6speed he would have smoked you, the cl-s in six speed wouldnt be able to beat a g35 6speed, even an auto g35 is faster than a tl-s or cl-s

Some of these other guys who were there will verify this, but in Orlando Speedworld a modified (intake, etc) G35c manual was running 15.2xx's all night...Driving means a lot and he obviously couldn't drive...

That being said, a modified TL-S will run with a G35c at speed, but not ever from a stop (assuming the driver of the G is even remotely competant)...I know this from experience!

Nice run either way!

Totally agree. My friend's best run in his G35 auto sedan was 14.9. On the same day I ran a 14.7. Bot of us were stock. I guess results vary but you have to remember another thing: not every TLS or G35 is the same. There are some faster than the others. I'm pretty sure though that I have one of the faster TLS and he has one of the slower G35s. It's nice just to run and compare and you don't have to win all your races.

Yeah, I knew my "kill" status wouldn't have lasted if we both had a clear lane, but it felt good to sort of put him in his place (if for just a moment)

Nice kill! Wish I had the same luck you had when I encountered G35s.

My car is modded, and up to 100 its a drivers race, but once in triple digits, and we need to get out of 3rd gear, the G35C WILL take a walk on us. I know from experience. The guy had at leats some sort of intake from what I heard, but at triple digits, he took a walk on me.

True, all cars are different.. my friend raced her 03 G35 coupe at the track and ran a 13.9@100 with only a drop in K&N.... Car was a 6 speed as well, but she can drive her ass off... ultimately, everything depends on how well one can drive the car.

Tell me about it. A g35 sedan beat me .. and I got pretty much owned by a 6-speed. The worst thing is the kid who I got owned by has a white g35c (Exactly what I wanted) and lives a couple blocks from my house.

I'm pretty much stock except for K&N filter. :o
