Costco Tire
I usually get my tires from a local Costco.
I watched them put on the tires and told the mechanics and manager that I felt that they torqued the lug nuts wrong.
They assured me that they use a torque wrench set to the proper setting and no way they could be wrong.
Well I went home and used my torque wrench to check how tight the lug nuts were.
I found them to be around 150-160 ft-lbs each.
Do most tire stores bang down the lugs with an impact wrench and them use a torque wrench to make you feel good about what they did.

That means you may have to loosen and retorque the lug nuts yourself if you're so inclined.
You should also check the tire pressures-- the hose-mounted gauges are notoriously inaccurate. The techs also may not know the proper psi for your vehicle, or ignore the written psi on the work order. I've had new cars and serviced cars delivered with tire pressures that were up to 10 lbs off. A service advisor told me a few weeks ago that the recommended psi for a minivan was 32/32 when it was 36/36 on the door plate-- he decided to go with the door plate numbers when I pointed it out.

Burning Brakes
I suppose it depends who you get.
The Costco Tire I used was pretty competent. I asked what was the proper pressure was (I knew the answer) and the service guy showed me the print-out with the correct number.
The service guy at the Acura dealer, however, confused my TSX Wagon for an RDX. Maybe he was new, the wagon is not that popular, and the roof rails and crossbars fooled him. Anyway, he over-torqued 2 lug nuts on the front passenger wheel and my wife noticed an occasional burning smell. Too much torque and you stress the parts and make them rub together.

Go back to them and complain about what they did. It's not acceptable that they are damaging cars and claiming they aren't.
