IS this normal for 2003 Acura Tl-type s

My car makes a weird grinding buzzing noise when i start to drive. This only happens when the car has been sitting for atleast a couple hours. Dealer told me it was the ABS modulator and that this noise is normal. Has this happened to anyone else and can the dealer fix it? I have a feeling he might be lying to me because he was very rude to us.

If it happens anywhere between 0 and about 10 mph, then it is normal. Its the ABS system doing a self test.

Well that clears that up and now I know what that noise actually is. I've had it from day one, but never thought anything of it...

I just heard of this sound recently, only with windows down or when I turn off my stereo. I thought it was coming from my steering rack and pinion becuase whenever I reverse out of my driveway I always turn it left and I would hear this noise.

Good to hear that its normal.

Yup, it's the ABS system pressurizing, and self checking. My car usually makes the noise 2x after I first start driving and quickly goes away. I think of it as an early morning yawn. lol

Lol...same exact thing happened to me, dealer rudeness and all. I thought I was getting the big FU because they didn't want to deal w/ another warranty tranny (which I thought was causing the noise). After reading about it on Acurazine, I was much relieved.

First time I read about it, one person described it as his car "mooing". After, I thought about and listened to it on my car, I realized how appropriate that description is.

I noticed that too, but figured it was normal since my parents Aviator does the exact same thing!

Glad I was right!
