Go ahead and sell it, I had a PERFECT 94 3000GT I got rid of and nearly paid of my 99 TL, saves insurance, and you have to drive it ever so often to keep it runnin good. Also, you need a place to store/put it. I would wash it and it would rain on it the next day because garage was full. Enjoy your new TL, (let the Prelude go
)

Thanks everyone. I had big plans for the Prelude too. I had a brand new supercharger sittin in my family room, along with some other goodies......
But I just love the styling of the TL. One thing Im losing sleep over though is the tranny issue. Ive done some research, and from what I can find, they 00+ 5-spds are more troublesome than the 4-spds....is this right ? Should I be VERY concerned about this when buying ? It was a toss-up between the TL and the A4. Can someone re-assure me that Im over-reacting ? I mean, I read about people with 15k miles and they are already experiencing slippage or worse
And why the hell is Honda\Acura procrastinating and not addressing this ? Do they not expect to be a competitive co in the auto market's future ?

believe it or not, my 3.2TL (NOT S) is still pretty comparable in speed, but now I can relax, let the automatic take over, open the sunroof, and smell the leather! No probs with transmission (is a 99)

If you can afford to keep the prelude then keep it otherwise let it go. As far as tranny problems, it isn't as widespread as it appears. Just check the VIN# and find out the history of that TL before buying it. Also make sure they throw in the warranty (extended would be even better).
I have a 99 TL with 60,000 miles and no tranny problem.
BTW, welcome aboard!

welcome to the forums man. I'm a big fan of Preludes...actually considered the Prelude instead of the TL when I was looking around. Yours looks real clean....more pics please??

Wish I had the funds to keep both cars, but no dice.
I have a '99 TL and I can sort of feel my tranny starting to slip. It's because of the fact that I bought the car used and the person before me did not take care of the car at all. I am planning to get a 2002 TL Type-S in a few months, and if you do buy one of the newer models (5 Speed); make sure to get the 100k warranty w/it.

Question - Will Acura give me a hard time replacing/repairing my tranny if I have mods, like i/h/e ? To me, it would not be related, but dealers seem to have misconceptions on this stuff, ya know ?

There are a few on the board that have had their tranny replaced and had I/H/E...

Why are you getting rid of it? It's a sweet car. You will love the TL. Just take care of the tranny and you would love it.

I guess there's a few reasons Im getting rid of it.
-82k miles
-Most likely having a child within a year, so I want to move in that direction of a larger car
-Upgrade, baby
