nice weather today, but my TL behaves wierd

It starts fine, but stay above 1200rpm when warmed up. And When I take it to the nearby CVS (about 0.2 miles), it starts jerking back and forth, and check engine light and TCS light came on. PS: The normal temperature for these days is 90, but today it was 70. ANd I checked the gas cap, it was tight.

Right now, if I put the shifter in parking, the tachmeter is going up and down, as if some one is stepping on gas once per second.

What problem is that? SHould I call the Acura roadside assistace number and get it towed to dealer?

Check out your idle air control (IAC) valve, there's a very good chance it has gone bonkers and will need to be replaced.

Did you have this problem fixed ? I had exactly the same issue with my 2002 TL. It was the IAC valve. So mdavisii is right.. One thing though, after this was fixed, the "smooth like glass" ride has all but dissappeared from my car. Still rides fine, but could it be related to problems with the IAC valve? My dealer says no way.

IACV should not cause the jerking motion when drive. Sounds like a combination of two problems; IACV and transmission.

I have complained twice to my dealer about the roughness of the drive and when the service manager and I go for a test drive, he finds nothing wrong with it, he says it's the road. I have to admit that on a perfectly paved road it's great, but hit a little bump and there it goes... At very low speeds, such as when stopping for a light it feels like it sways.

Anyway, this past September I took the car for maintenance service and the dealer said that Acura had requested a transmission check ion my TL, or all TLs, for that matter, at no cost. It was they called the 2 gear inspection. It checked out fine. They did install the "jet kit" whatever that is.

I am not still happy with the way it handles.

Take it to a different dealership if you can. You should not be getting any jerking motions.

But keep it mind it doesn't necessarily have to be the transmission. It could be a bent wheel, bent axles, whatever. Anything in the drivetrain could be responsible for this.

Good luck.

I also get a very weird like hesitation of some sort around 2nd to 3rd gear. But only happens sometimes when I drive slowly. Don't notice it when I accelerate a little harder then normal. I wonder if that's the IAC valve too. How much does it cost to replace it ? (Parts and labor)

I wish I could help you on that one. Mine was replaced under warranty, but I wonder if they just cleaned it and put it back. I also remember the IAC going bad after filling the tank with Racetrak gas. Bad gas, though 93 octane? Hmmm. Maybe.
