Was it like this when you purchased the car?

Have you seen a shop yet about?

The car is a 99 TL it has about 110,000 miles on it. I dont think it has ever been rebuilt either. this problem only happens in reverse. it works perfectly when in drive, but in reverse it just revs up

Try taking it to the Acura dealer for a goodwill fix. The dealers know the trannys suck and a lot of them will at least cover half the cost. Talk to the manger not the service writer since the mangers are the ones that talk to acura directly.

Mine replaced in 01/2008 at Champion Acura.
No charge.
1999 TL, 105K mi. during the tranny replacement time.

I thought the 99 TL 4speed transmissions were stronger, and the transmission problem was only with the 2000-2003 TLs
