New Jersey people => Input needed

I'll be taking a two day trip to the Piscataway / Somerset / Edison (Middlesex County) region and I am going to stay at a hotel there. My question is this: is the area pretty safe? I am having doubts about taking the TL-S and having something crazy happen to it, like getting the headlights or car badges stolen. Would it be a better idea to drive a rental? Any input (stories or relevant experiences) would be greatly appreciated.

Those areas are generally safe. I haven't heard any stories of theft or vandalism. If you're staying at a hotel, I would imagine their parking lot is pretty well-lit at nite. Maybe you can park right under a light near the entrance so any suspicious activity would be noticed by anyone passing by.

Thanks to everyone who posted a reply. POPEYE, I am not sure yet which hotel I'll be staying in but judging from what others have said, I should be fine. I'm really looking forward to this trip because it will be my first long excursion in the Type S. Thanks again people!

I live in Somerset and work in Edison (with Piscataway pretty much wedged in between). All are relatively safe areas. I have a 2K2 Max and my friend/neighbor across the street has a 99 TL and we've never had any problems with having our cars messed with.

Just be careful about parking at Menlo Park Mall though, cars have been know to be stolen from there occassionally (moreso around the holidays), but nothing like the headlight snatching that goes on in Queens, NY. (But there is an Edison Police substation now at the mall so it may be somewhat safer now.)

And don't forget if you wanna get a good hotel room for cheap, look at www.biddingfortravel.com - they show you how to bid your way to an awesome room on Priceline. I travel for biz alot and use them whether for biz or pleasure- though I don't know if they have hook ups in smaller Joisey areas.

Tell me about. I was with my wife in my TL at menlo park mall the other night. As I was driving around to find a parking spot, I noticed 3 cars with a bunch of guys staring at my car. So when I parked, all 3 cars drove by again (but not together) really slowly staring at my ride even though we were still inside. It doesn't take a genious to figure what can happen. So I waited til they all left and drove to the other side of the mall. God knows what they could've done to my car if I left it there.
