Need tranny help

Which tranny should i get? The Av6 or the ody 06 trans?

Whichever one you say, can you tell me a good price for most of the trannys? I've seen some AV6 trannys for 1.3k and I just want to make sure.

Will an 07 accord trans work too? I'm checking everywhere on the internet and can't find any junkyards or autosalvages with an 06/07 tranny. i want to get this fixed now but I can't spend the extra 400$ to buy it from a website opposed to in person.

Check with your local wrecking salvage yard first.....if they don't have one, they can usually locate one for ya.

So my dad was talking to me about the tranny. He got me worried. He suggests rebuilding it for 950. I want to swap for an 06accord for 950+350 for labor.

He said" What if the transmission doesnt work and then you gotta pay another 350 to take it out and put in another one, but if you rebuild it you just pay 950. Not 950+350 and then 350 if it doesnt work.

Which one should i do? I just sold my backup car and now have money to do it.

The choice is ultimately yours. Have you had any luck locating a good low mileage Accord tranny locally ? To rebuild the existing tranny at $950 for all parts and labor may not be a bad deal if you get a guaranteed warranty that the tranny will last for awhile. You're basically buying the warranty for peace of mind.

The Accord tranny's have been of an improved design and most have had good luck installing them. Maybe try to negotiate the price on the Accord tranny. That's a bargain for the installation,....... is it the same shop involved with either deal ?

Send your dad to this forum and have him read about our transmission. Then ask him if this is what he wants in your car just shined up a bit. It's a flawed design, period. You're just polishing a turd if you rebuild it. Find a low mileage accord tranny and do the swap.

If you do decide to go with a rebuild, then at minimum you should be installing kevlar clutches. I also think that you need to get a new torque converter as well since the clutches in that are a wear item too. Do a search about this.

Ok so I need this answered by tonight because my dad needs his truck for work and he's tired of me telling him to wait. (I go through him with all my finances just to be safe).

What's the exact 06accord tranny that I need? Is it just a bolt on? I need the exact name of the tranny that the car is coming from so it'll just be a bolt on. What are my chances that the tranny will work? Final question, how do I know if whom I buy it from is lying about "low miles" if they tell me it has around 80,000.

It sounds like Dad will have the final word to your questions.

If he chooses rebuilding, .....so be it !!!
But make sure that you get a detailed estimate of parts being replaced, along with a good warranty on the tranny.

Good luck with the rebuild, ......but don't be surprised if ya get a bigger bill at the end.

Then ya still only have what was never right to begin with, should consider the '06>'07 Accord V-6's 5 speed AT for best overall value.

And it will just die again. There is a design flaw that will continue to cause them to fail. Its not a part that can be replaced to fix it. Your best bet is the Accord trans.

Ask your dad if the next rebuild is on him since it will fail again.
