Need new doors!

Man I am friking so pissed of right now. I was pulling out of a spot on the street yesterday and somehow managed to scrape my car against some bent pole or something. Its pretty bad, front pas. door has a small dent on it, rear pass door is caved in, but still opens, and right rear quater pannel is pretty messed up too.

Does anyone know where I can get the door for cheap? The front isnt terrible so may just leave it, but the rear is done for. Also can anyone tell me how much i'm look at here to fix this? Ill post up pix a bit later but its pretty terrible I have to say.

I can probably find the doors at a junk, but that takes time and effort, any shortcuts?

Contact your insurance (thats what you have it for) and have a body shop do it and just pay your deductible

Here is a good place to locate parts if you want to go the pay out of your pocket route (which will be a few K depending on how much damage you really have (kinda hard to say with no pics)

Well I dont have collision so no insurance. I found the for door for $250, itll probably cost me $300 - 400 to fix the quater pannel. Is there any way to replace the quater panel it or will i just have to deal with them trying to bang it out?

Of course there is a way to replace the quarter panel. Every part on the car is designed to be replaced. Replacing all depends on how much damage there is. If they have to replace it there will probably be more than 3-400 in labor.

Also a good reason to have collision.

Its just metal, it can be fixed. It could be worse. No need to be down.

Make sure the car is watertight before you leave
rear 1/4 panels require cutting them off the car, new ones welded on, bondo- sanding-and painted $$$$$
Some door outer skins can be replaced without the whole door
Frame damge to the door is a mandatory replacement- safety issue

Maybe there is a local trade school for body repairs who will do it for far less?

Well it seems to be good as far sealing goes, no air leaks, so probably no water leaks. Hopefully the rear quater can be hammers/bondo'd. I wouldn't trust a trade school for a few bucks off, I'd rather pay a little (or a lot) more for some good quality work.

And yeah im not too pissed, its just now the pennies ive been saving for some usefull mod will have to go to fixing my stupidity.

Thats funny- at trade school they are watched closely and it has to be done right

At shops- the workers are OFTEN paid by the job- not by the hour,
so if they can shortcut and do a 8 hour job in 3 and get paid for 8 while they are working on another car~~~

I dont let the dental school near my teeth-they can practice on welfare patients, but if you are on a budget out of pocket car repair- its worth a look

Well the tech school i went to for auto body would have done a better job than many autobodys. The teacher wouldnt let sub par work pass. SOme of the best work ive seen was done in the school.

Ill look into it, will I have to get the parts for them myself?

Also the only one I found is Apex techinical school, I've heard about them before, is that the kind of place I need to go to?

That's not too bad. I'd let the local trade school or vo-tech work on it, if they'll take it. A bunch of people I went to H.S. with took their cars there and had flawless work done.

Holy crap, a bent pole did that?! Good luck in getting it fixed, and I know your pain of having liability only. After getting 3 points, liability only still costs me $6000... .

~Cheers~
