need info

ok in a 99tl I have daytime running lights, so they are always on.At night you can barely see them, just a little yellowish, then I turn the lights on and only the side Orange covered part of the headlight comes on and there is actaully no difference in viability, the only way I can notice is by the interior lights cuz they come on. Then I turn the light knob one more time and the whitebluish lights come on, as well as the highbeam blue indicator on my console. Now I dont think its normal to drive with your highbeams on all the time but otherwise I cant see shit, even tho my lights are on. I dont know what is going on? Input please? also can someone show me what their car looks like with highbeams on and normal lights so I can compare?

First of all ... don't be an ass and turn the highbeams on. You can cause an accident that way (ie blind the oncoming driver).

Secondly ... I think your HIDs are on its way out. Your car is a '99 ... so the HIDs are probably factory original ones and those things lose their brightness over time. If you have any mechanical inclination, do them yourself. Order the right part and change them. Some have said changing the bulbs can be done without taking off the bumper, but I can't see how that can be done -- (ie I have man hands).

What part of Canada do you live? HIDs (aka xenons) brighten up the road better than any halogen bulb I have ever seen. I'm sure you can find an AZ member you can compare your car lights to. Pictures will not give you any perspective on how bright "normal" HIDs can illuminate.

ye I do think that my HIDs are almost out, so I am in the market for new bulbs. Hoever I dont knwo that to get and from where.Ebay seems to be the first chioce for everyone, so I guess I will look there. Any advice as to what bulbs are the best, looks and visibility wise, also can someone tell me the size, or what kind of bulb can actually fit on the car, cuz I am sure that you cant just put anything in there.

Lets see if i get this straight. You turn the knob once and you DRLs stay on and your side markers turn on. You turn it all the way (twice) and your HIDs (low beams) turn on as well as your highs? What happens when you pull the light selector towards you to turn off your high beams?
Turning the knob once ONLY turns on the marker lights. DRLs should stay on and shouldnt be enough to light the road. Turning the knob all the way ONLY turns on your low beams.

Oh and do a little search. There are atleast 2-3 current threads going on about what bulbs and where to get them

yea I figured it out man, my dad was fucking with it and the light selector got stuck in teh highbeam mode lol but got it fixed now. Yea I was reading throught the threads but ppl are throwing out 5-6 different makers, compared with 5-6 different bulb ratings, so I am confused but I will figure it out somehow.

the only bulbs you should look at are Philips, Orsam, or kaixen. Stick with the stock 4300 range. Dont go higher because of color.

so as I understand that the higher you go above the stock range of 4100-4300 that the color changes, but the illumination is lower, which also means that the visibility is lower?is that right, english is my second language and i dont speak it well hahaha?
