need advice - tranny problemts, etc etc
I'm writing this on behalf of my poor old mom. She brought her 2000 TL in to the dealer in late august for the recall + oil jet kit. Her car was at 99K miles then. Beginning of november, the tranny blows out and the car is 101k miles. The friggin dealer charged her 5 grand to replace the transmission. I went back to confront them about the oil jet kit and they told me they would have to talk to their factory rep and get back to me. What should i do from here? The car had an extended warranty (100k) in addition to the extended tranny warranty. This is the best part...right after they replaced the transmission my mom noticed that the car was near overheating. It turns out that the condenser fan motor (thats the passenger side radiator fan) is broken and now they want more money to fix it. The radiator fans/cooling system NEVER had any problems prior to the replacement transmission. I know the transmission is no where near the fan, but c'mon this problem appears the day my mom gets her car back? I want them to pay for the fix, but they won't. Any suggestions on this? THanks for your help everyone!
oh btw, the acura dealer is santa monica acura in CA.

RAISE HELL. do'nt know how but just do it.!! and try to do this in front of other customers. then they will act fast to try to shut you up. trust me, always work. the key is make a scene and know what you're talking about. they will always try to reassure you that's it not their fault. just don't feel guilty or embarrassed of anything. from the sounds of it, they deserve it.

If it comes down to it, drive down to American Honda HQ in Torrance and demand to speak to Customer Service until they pay for the transmission and the fixing of the fan.

teh replacement tranny should have had a 12k warranty on it! the fan on the passenger side should only really ever go on with the AC. maybe they didnt add enough fluid after swapping the tranny. alot comes out in the swap. have you checked the level of it?
the fluid level looked fine. i had to end up paying the dealer because we have family over and we need the car for the holiday (they basically held the car hostage). when i asked my service advisor about the reason for the fan motor meltdown (right after we get the car back) he basically said shit happens and I shouldn't be insinuating that they did something wrong. I know the transmission is no where near the radiator but something seems fishy. thanks for the help everyone. anyone know the warranty policy on the oil jet kit btw?
Well, before raising hell, look over the paperwork on the trans. replacement. Surely there was a warranty period stated there. If not, call anonymously and ask how long repairs are warranted, making sure to get a name so you can back up the fact that you spoke to someone. I'm not really sure how it's the automatically the dealer's fault. If they did the oil jet, I'd demand to see the photo evidence on how they determined whether to oil jet or replace. BUT, you didn't come anywhere near telling us WHY the transmission needed replacement. Don't leave us assuming. Maybe the failure had nothing to do with the recall and what they were inspecting for. The work order should state the problem exhibited by the tranny.

and why do you want to know the warranty period on the oil jet kit? it had nothing to do with the tranny dying. the tranny should have came with a 12k warranty. thats what acura has told me in the past
