Is my Tl and anomaly?

Can someone explain this to me? I have a 2001 acura tl (3.2 L V6). Over the past few years, I've been looking for a new car. I've tried various different cars including, for example, the Audi S4 and BMW 535 xi. While on paper my Acura has less power, less torque, and much slower acceleration (greater than 7 secs 0-60 I believe), I have yet to find a car that feels like the tl. This car has such an amazing throttle response. As soon I touch the accelerator, the car takes off. Other people who have driven my car have noticed the same thing. The car just feels incredibly "peppy" I guess. Although other cars like the BMW have much better handling and over all feel, none of them have a similar response in terms of acceleration. Does anyone know why this is? Is it possible my specific car is some kind of an anomaly? I have not tried any other Acura so I can't really compare.

Probably because you have a mechanically operated throttle body and new cars are electronic hence the lag you feel

You can get rid of that Lag on the DBW Vehicles with a Simple Mod.

Aww they don't have the 04 TL on there. Isn't the 04 TL a DBW?

yes ^
and I remember seeing someone trying it on the 3G TL.
Dont know if it worked or not.

personally; I wouldnt use the sprint booster.

and maybe I havent experienced it or dont know what it feels like.....but my DBW 06 TL with 6MT has no lag. Down shift into the proper gear/powerband and hit the skinny pedal and I'm off!!

One thought - could also be the gear ratios and programmed shift points. The TL has pretty good response/acceleration in the lower gears.

I get the same feeling when moving to a DBW car. DBW can't quite beat a cable IMO, even if it does allow for more programmable settings. I will say though that the greatest thing about a cable is that the stiff feel allows you to rest your foot on the pedal when cruising as opposed to constantly fidgeting your foot back and forth so you don't accelerate too much or lose speed like DBW.

Butt dyno is deceiving. TL has very downshift happy transmission and great throttle response. This combined with punchy VTEC power-band makes it feel quicker than it actually is.

Old fox body 5.0 mustangs are the same way due to tremendous torque they had from idle. Everyone who rode in my 5.0 would comment that "this thing has some power".

Hmm I guess this makes a lot of sense. Glad to finally figure out why I just don't get the same feel from any new car! I think I'm just gonna hold on to my old acura until it dies. Already got 170k miles on it (did have a warranty transmission change at around 70k). Sad to see you can't get cars like this anymore Maybe I'll test drive a new tl just to see how it feels though.
