My new 2002 Type S

Well I'm a recent owner of a base 3G TL which got totaled by a drunk driver on thanksgiving night while it was parked, the car was being financed and i had only owned the car for 6 months so it was nowhere near being paid off. My insurance paid off the car for me but needless to say i lost any and all payments i had made towards my loan. Fast forward to 3 days ago i found a 2002 TL-S on craigslist white in color, the transmission was no good so the price was cheap ($1800) with 140k miles. I bought the car the same day and took it to get the transmission rebuilt and the car is now running perfectly and for some reason it feels MUCH more powerful than my 05 TL, any who i have a couple small issues. My rearview mirror is very loose and moves whenever i hit bumps on the road, also my dome light is out does anybody know the correct bulb number to put in there? Any help is appreciated.

There's a thread here that shows you how to replace the rear view mirror due to them blowing up from the dimming function. I would go to a junkyard and replace it.

right but theres also a thread that states the fact that replacing the mirror isn't even necessary because its a part insides the base of the mirror or something like that

What I'm saying is you can use it to help you, so you can get the whole assembly and not have a loose mirror anymore.

Just get some blue led bulbs for car. They look much better than the standard bulbs.

i don't like blue, white is much brighter even though i don't want TOO bright because that would be a bit annoying on the eyes so its definitely not the brighter the better for me when it comes to this particular bulb.

To be honest the 3G AUTO Base TL is kinda slow compared to the 2G TL-S.. The Manual 3G Base should be faster tough, but if you go 6 Speedo then again the 2G TL-S wins.

2G TL-S vs 3G TL-S? The 3G wins hands down...

Moral of Story: Never get a Base model of anything, it will always let you down.

Regarding the loose mirror, I bent the tabs that hold the mirror on a little tighter and that helped for me. Still wobbles looses every once in a while but I just wiggle it back on. Before, bumps in the road would shake it loose easily. It loosens up when I try to make adjustments, or when someone else does.

The 6 speed 3G tl is pretty quick stock, with a decent driver it is faster than the 3g tl type s auto. The auto base 3G tl is pretty slow. I could beat them easily with just a few mods. One thing I like about the 3G tl is there is way more aftermarket support then with the 2g

I unscrewed the tabs and turned it around screwed it back on and it never fell off again or wiggle, give it a try.

^ That works no doubt although good luck taking it back off in the event that your windshield needs to be replaced or leaking mirror.
However it works perfect for the window switch door panel separation issue.

A little too permanent for me. Need it to come off in case someone decides to body slam my windshield again.

I'll look into the tab thing though.

Idk what makes the 3G base "kinda slow" compared to the 2G TL-S if they have the same power numbers and same weight and both cars had no known issues no check engine lights or anything. Thats why i was pleasantly surprised because according to the numbers the 2G TL-S isn't supposed to be any faster.

Mine doesn't wiggle from the tabs mine wiggles from the actual ball that attaches to the mirror, if you notice there is a spring where the ball meets the mirror itself. My mirror is cracked at that part (the part that pressures the ball into the mirror so its tight) therefor the ball is loose and its very easy to move the mirror. I tried to fix it and pressure the spring onto the ball and put it back on and it is a bit tighter now but sooner or later I'm going to need a new mirror which costs $90 shipped to my door from Delray.

Place a little piece of ductape on the mount. It will make the fit much tighter.

Its no surprise... If you race a 3G Base Model you will win any day in your TL-S... The J32A3 (270HP then 258HP SAE Corrected) is completely over-rated Vs the J32A2 (260HP SAE Corrected). so dont fiddle with Internet Numbers or anything... Just race a Base Model and laugh all the way... (STOCK WISE CLEARLY STATED)
