Another reason why I say that the bypass valve should be sold STANDARD with the CAI. Its like having a bike but having to buy the brakes separately.

This is not directed to you but when will people learn NOT to drive thru a puddle! Puddles are very deceiving and I am sorry to hear about your situation. Thank god I bought a bypass valve with my cai. You never know when you might need it.

Sorry to say but I think your engine is a goner.

Holy crap! Sorry to hear that We had the meet today and we were just talking about your car. I was driving my gf home tonight in the rain too. There were so many puddles. I was then decided that if when I get my CAI, I'll get a bypass for sure. If it was good enough for a flood, a puddle is not a issue.

Water in the engine is very bad news. It might be a goner. Pistons, crankshafts and linkages are prob borken or bent since water is not compressible. Was there a loud bang when it seized? If there was a bang, your engine is going to need lots of repair, if recoverable. Look for oil leaks too. If there is oil leak, say bye-bye to your TL

your engine is gone. did it lock up on you? My friend TLS just got flooded also and his engine locked up. Insurance claim a total lost on it. Just make sure you put your stock intake back on and claim insurace. If you planning on paying it out of your pocket. You looking at around 7-8k i think.

I say that you should upgrade to a TYPE S engine. This guy is selling the engine and tranny for $2000 -----> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1872324370
I guess you don't need the tranny that comes with the engine but you could keep it as a spare or sell it to someone here! LOL I guess that wasn't funny for anyone with a dead tranny...

Your motor is dead man. Oil and water don't mix, especially dirty water from the streets.

Ok, I was planning to do a J32A2 swap to it, but then the shop told me that it was a miracle. My engine can start after removing all the water in the motor, and did a transmission flush. Now hoping everything can worked out tomorrow. Or else definitely a J32A2 swap.

Yeah my exact thought! I'm sure since the interior was burned that the ECU for the engine is completely dead. How much is the ECU for the TYPE s?

make the type s engine into a 3.5, port and polish, bolt on a supercharger and hook up an intercooler. I bet you could easily achieve 400+ HP at the wheels!:wow:

you need a lot of $$ and put a lot of into it though

You sure are lucky. You probably didn't suck in a lot of water. My friend did that to his 4runner. He sucked in so much water that the piston couldn't compress it and the connecting rod snapped in two and ripped a hole in the block.

OK, here is the good news guys, the motor is working better than ever and smoother than before. I got new sparks, new engine oil, new tranny oil, and other things. Basically the water locked up my engine and haven't fried the pistons. So you guys know what my next mod is.....BYPASS VALVE...

Result...
Pros: Engine back to life with little improvement
Cons: No more TypeS J32A2

OMG... I'm glad that ur car is better though.

I just purchased a Injen CAI yesterday and i was debating if i should get a bypass valve. I guess I should get one. Sorry that your misfortune is a learning expierience for us.

Does Injen make a bypass valve or do I have to use the AEM bypass valve.

You need one from AEM. Injen doesn't make bypass if I'm not mistaken

I'm 99.99% sure the JDM 3.2 L VTEC and the USDM 3.2 L VTEC are exactly the same..the same also applies for the Type S versions for the 02's and 03's
