Motor mount failures

I took my 03 TL Type S in for a transmission flush with 61345 miles today and they told me that the front and right side motor mounts are broken/leaking. I saw them and they are. How long do these mounts typically last? Has anyone had these fail on their cars? I'm not hard on the car and its not lowered.
My transmission by the way is also going to be replaced. Not shifting right through the lower gears.
So the total repair is 344. Damn thats high! For replacing the motor mounts, trans as you know is covered under the 109K warranty.

The motor mounts have been known to go out. My front was pretty jacked after 65k miles and the side was torn up. If your really concerned about it you can order aftermarket front and side mount from innovative mounts. They are solid you will get more power to the ground. I would not recommend getting the rear from them at this time there is a vibration issue with it.

The side mount is easy enough to do yourself but the front is going to be a little trickier. Some mounts will last only 30K or so and some last 50K+.

Totally agree. With the right tools front is pretty easy too. Rear is a f!3kin bitch though but since you don't need to that one forget about it for now.

They are known to go out in very little miles. Ive had 3 fronts go within 15-30k miles.

Definitely wait until the issue is resolved before getting the Innovative mounts, but be warned that could take a while.

have the front mount replaced with the trans - its way easy to reach with trans already removed!

Yes, I recommend Innovative on the side as well, if you want Innovative all 'round be prepared for vibration i noticed a slight increase in gas economy and power from my shot OEMs.
I'm still working with them on the vibration issue and pushing them but even if i'm able to get them installed Friday morning-afternoon it'll be a good month till we see some sort of results from whatever design change they made .
If you are intested in the Innovative mounts there is a forum on the progress here.

Wait, the mounts are covered under the warranty via acura? How do you know if your mounts are bad because something on the drives side pops when I first hit the gas from a dead stop, do you think its a mount issue or something totally off?

We might be on the same boat here.
First, my car vibrate when i first start the engine. It also makes a little noise when i first hit the gas from a dead stop too. I took it to the shop and found that the front engine mount is going out. The front-right axle is going too. I'll have them replace today.

did you take it to acura or a shop? I have slight vibrations as well. So thats why i assume it's my stupid mounts. Between the mounts and the tranny, this car scares me but yet its sooooooo cool

The motor mounts show that they are leaking. Are the mounts not tough enough to with stand the torque produced by the engine and therefore need a heavy duty type of motor mount system? Would anyone know if the part number is different between the type S and the P model. I'm thinking they should be different because the Type S motor being more powerful.
Whay do you guys think?
By the way, the dealership gave me a 09 TSX with Nav. very nice! I'll have it for a week!

Its because we have powerful cars with VERY trick, hi tech, fluid filled !!! motor mounts on the front and rear of the engine-
Some years even have a vacuum assist in the motor mount so when you hit the gas hard it knows--- and stiffens in response!
You may drive for a year without knowing the front mount is broken, since its not like a regular mount- and its fwd drive car- a V8 Chevy you know right away!
All that driving with bad front mount takes out the passenger side
If miles are low enough some get it warranty with the trans- the rest pay a minor labor charge 3/10ths of an hour to install front mount when the trans is removed for warranty replacement- thats when mounts are seen by a tech and knows what the failure looks like
the mount itself is 100-120 $
Solid poly bushings are going to shake the car
Its odd to have super low mileage failure, or replaced ones fail again- but they are just mechanical devices---and things happen

Yeah I would recommend getting the front and side mount from innovative. You don't have to order the whole set from them. If and when they take care of the rear mount issue then purchase the rear then. My car does feel better and I only have front and side installed right now.
