Is there a DIY on CV boot replacement or front axle removal

I thought I would easily find a DIY for this....
I have a CV boot on front axle starting to sling grease.
Need to know how to remove front axle and if you have to break apart any suspension pieces to do so, and if that ruins the grease seal/boot around said suspension piece, etc, etc.

I HAVE already read the discussions of just replacing with rebuilt axle vs. just replacing the boot. Either way, I have to remove the axle from suspension & steering knuckle...

If you like to replace the boot, use the quick repair boot type that you can snap it in without removing the axle. I highly suggest you to get a rebuild axle and replace the whole unit. It is really messy if you choose to remove axle and just replacing the boot. And after all, it is still an old axle. I have tried it before, it is very messy and time consuming to rebuild yourself. In either case, you do need to remove the axle out of the car.

To remove the axle (half shaft) you will need to remove the spindle nut, disconnect the lower ball joint, and pry the axle out of the transmission. The spindle nut is typically torqued to 160 ft lbs, so you need a breaker bar and length of pipe and the nut should be removed with the wheel on and the car on the ground. Separating the ball joint can usually be done using a small pitman arm puller. That way you shouldn't damage the ball joint boot. A small pry bar is used to pry the axle out of the transmission.

For details check the shop manual.
