Misfire 1-5 cylinders

Alright guys please help me out anyone so I have an 03 tl type 's it's misfiring in 5 of the cylinders I changed the spark plugs iv checked the ignition coils I took apart the upper intake to clean out the egr ports iv done it all. So when Im at full throttle it down shifts just fine but work go no where it's not the transmission because when it's in park it does the same thing it stops at 4k rpm I can hear the motor misfiring like it has 2 step anti lag system but the car is stock I'm not sure if it's the fuEl injectors or it might be time to replace the timing belt does anyone know?? Please and thank you.

Are you getting a CEL for the random misfires? What kind of gas are you using?

You've got a bad coil. Start removing them one by one and see if there's a change in idle. Because you've replaced all of the plugs, it's narrowed down to coil.

Remove one by one and report back removal of which bank does not change the idle.

If that doesn't work, go and clean your EGR valve and port.

I had all the same symptoms and a combination of cleaning the EGR, new plugs and one new coil fixed mine. Make sure the EGR maze and ALLLLLLLL of the little holes that go into the lower manifold are cleaned and not clogged. I know you said you checked but check again, there's nothing left it could be. Maybe a bad harness or something. Try resetting the ECU again.

So have you cleared the codes AND reset the ECU? If so, you're saying they still all come back? Time to push it off a cliff.

Do you get any other codes beside misfire 1-5? How many miles on the car? Could or maybe need valve adjustment?

1. Insert and turn the key to the second position where all the dash lights and accessories turn on, turn off the AC and radio.
2. Remove the key.
3. Insert and turn the key to the second position again and immediately press the gas pedal to the floor and hold it for at least 30 seconds.
4. Remove the key and release gas pedal.
5. Insert key and start the car.
DONE!

If that doesn't work, disconnect the battery cables for like 30 minutes but you'll have to reset your radio settings..

Just another datapoint...

My OBD-II reader reported misfires on four or five cylinders on my 2001 V6 Accord; one new coil fixed the issue.

No, not exactly. With some Christmas lights, when one bulb goes out, all of the rest of the bulbs downstream go out as well. On these V6 engines it seems one bad coil will only impact one cylinder, however, what comes out of the OBD reader is misfires all over the map. At least that's my experience.

disconnect the battery or remove the clock fuse which is in the little panel when you open the passenger door. (it's there on my CL, so I'm assuming it's the same on the TL).

I still think it's a bad coil. If you've never replaced any coils, just order a 6 new ones.

When the car is idling, if you hear loud ticking from the engine then your valves could need adjusting back into spec. Note that your purge solenoid might also be ticking which is near the drivers firewall (small black thing)...you can put your finger on it and feel the tick. That's not to be confused with valves out of spec.

If it hasn't had the valves adjusted since new, then this would cause those misfires. OM says check valve clearances at 105k. A handy person could check and adjust the clearances. That's how these motors often blow: by burning an exhaust valve that has receded into the head and gone tight (no ticking).

(Otherwise I would say replace all coils.)

Whatever you do, do NOT replace all of the coils; change them as they fail, and right now, if coils is the OP's issue, there is only one bad coil.

I was traumatized by two coils suddenly going out at only 111k, so I say get them out. Move on to the next step in the diagnosis: valve adjustment.
