Might be getting a 03 TL Type S

I am considering buying a black TL Type S. It has 54K miles and he is selling it for 13,990 + TTL.

Do you guys think thats a good deal?

Anything I should look for when inspecting the car?

yea thats a great deal if it's in good condition. most 03 TL-S are selling nowadays around 18 - 22 k with mileage around 35-50k. someone correct me if i'm wrong. but thats what i've seen in my area.

Here are some pics of the car. The car looks like it has a body kit and is lowered...I like the way it looks...but does this increase or decrease the value of the car???

It sounds like a good deal but there are some things you can check out.

Get the VIN number and check with Acura to see if it is covered by the 100,000 mile extended warranty on the transmission. Unlike the 1999-2002 TLs, not all 2003 TLs have the extended warranty. The transmissions have been a reliability problem.

Run a CarFax report. These are perfect but they can flag problems that the owner might not tell you.

Does it have a salvage title?

Are you buying fom the original owner? (A second or third owner might not know the full history of the car.)

Has it ever been in a accident or had body work?

Does the owner have any service records for it?

If you have a good mechanic, you might want to have it checked out.

Good luck!

Bob

looks like a good car. Since the car is lowered ask the owner what suspension he is running and if he still has the stock suspension just in case you ever want to go back to the factory setup.

Sounds like a sweet deal, probably the previous owner had a problem with the transmission and decided to sell it. At that price I would get it since you have about 50k more on the transmission warranty.

Not all 2003 TLs are covered by the 100,000 mile/ 7 year extended warranty on the transmission. The coverage depends on the VIN number. So this car, at 54,000 miles, may have no warranty on the transmission.
