Metra Kit Problem

I was following the DIY Metra Kit for a Double Din Unit, and decided to go for it. Unfortunately, after getting the metra kit, taking apart my dash, and measuring it before I made my cuts, I realized that my screen would not fit. It works width wise, but my screen is about 1/4 inch to tall. I'm debating whether to cut the pocket out and just try it anyways, or cut the pocket out and try to grind away some of the top and bottom to make it fit. I don't really care what the front of the mounting hardware looks like, because I'll be slapping a wood grain on the front. Any ideas? has anyone had this happen?

I believe the last time someone posted a DIY on the metra double din they removed the whole pocked as well.

Yes they did,
I removed the pocket. But I'm gonna try and get my buddy's dremel, and remove some of the plastic to make it a little taller to fit...

Do you have a pic of your double din and what your metra kit currently looks like?
