I'm guessing it's a type-s? Big power loss after 6k but good number no-less. I'm interested in knowing what mods you have

Not bad numbers..258 at the wheels is roughly 322 at the crank considering ~25% power loss through the drivetrain.

Been my experience with RWD cars roughly 25-30% is lost through the drivetrain on an auto (depending on converter), and 12-15% on a stick (depending on clutch). Is it the same for FWD?

what do you think- about an 8-15% whp increase changing from auto to manual?

Thanks, since the engine and tranny sit right on the drive wheels its about 20% drivetrain loss instead of 25% but i think about 8-15% increase with the tranny swap seems about right

yea bout 30-35whp less seems about right, might be a little less than that seeing as tho the ATLP exhaust makes good gains on the TLP

ill wait for my tranny to die and then do a type-s swap with a 6 speed. thats if i make any money. or go to a junk yard and strip the intake manifold off of a type-s. Is that the only difference besides the exhaust and headers, or are the cams different on type-s? i think they might be, idk. thanx

You have all of the 6 speed conversion parts ready? Or still gathering/process? Good numbers, looking forward to see the gains.

Thanks. I have most of them, all i need is the cam gear, clutch, master cylinder and the fluid lines and some miscellaneous bolts. So still in the gathering process. I should have everything and the down payment for the swap by the end of this month.

will you be the first one to do the swap for a type-s? could you make up a list of parts? I will be doing this swap whenever my 5at decides to crap out.

I think 1 or 2 other people have done it on a Type S but Kris aka fsttyms1 pioneered the swap. He has a list of all the parts you need stickied at the top of the 2nd gen TL section in his swap thread. Most of the people I have seen do the swap own TLPs tho ironically. Im on my 4th 5AT so I figured Id get rid of it while its still fresh, so someone who is out of warranty cant get an almost new tranny for a good price.

^ u wont have to buy a type s motor. Thats about it, but you have to change the cam gear and timing gear cause they are different between the manual and auto. You also have to change the ecu. You dont have to change all of that stuff if you get the harness from Ritchie.

Intake valves (36mm vs 34mm)
Pistons (10.5:1 vs 9.8:1)
Camshaft
larger TB diameter
dual-stage intake manifold, you also need the actuator controls

J32A2-AT to J32A2-6MT:

Front cam pulley 14260-PGE-A11
Front plate assembly 11860-PGE-A10
Timing belt pulley(lower) 13621-PGE-A11
Crank shaft sensor 37500-PGE-A11
Subharness for CKP 37501-PGE-A10
TDC Sensors (Qty 2) 37840-PGE-A11
TDC SUB HARNESS 37841-PGE-A10

^--Courtesy Fsttyms1, of course with 6MT ECU and harness. Did RichieV6 finish his TL-P harness? Thought he only had the J30 harness done

Very nice numbers. When I do headers I think I'm also going to delete the cat. Are you doing anything to "trick" the ecu into thinking there is still a cat with the secondary O2 sensor? I was thinking of the spark plug defouler trick.

He has a harness done for two 3.5s that were built using the oddy ecu which isnt too far off from the j32 ecu, so from what I figured he was almost done. I wont be using his harness, ill be doing a full cls6spd swap just incase. Im pretty sure his harness will work tho.

Nope I just have the o2 sensor zip tied to the heatshield. I havent thrown a cel, also when I was on the dyno my afr was pretty much perfect

^^^ Thanks man. Yea I'm cool with the dyno owner (the whole crew is) so whenever we wanna have another one all we need is 10 cars and we have another dyno day. Seeing as tho we all mod our cars like every other week it should be no problem to get 10+ ppl to sign up.

^ I shall be in for the next one if I can get my car to pass this week.

I might have some extra parts sitting in my trunk, like flywheel bolts and other miscellaneous. I'll let you check them out whenever you got time.

So you gained 20whp with exhaust and no cat? That's impressive! Can you give details of your exhaust?

yeppers, the exhaust starts off at the headers its 2.5" all the way to the Y and it breaks off into 2.25 to some magnaflow str8 through mufflers. I also have an 18" 2.5" str8 through magnaflow resonator on there. Ill probably need to add another one tho. Probably an 8" one
