Question Let there be light (in my trunk).

As I was peering into my pitch black trunk last night (I have an 03 TL-S with navigation) I said to myself, "Self, this trunk must have a light somewhere." I coulld not find it using a very sophisticated occular scanning device (my own eyeballs).

I know it has one, because I found several threads that tell you what kind of bulb it takes. But none that say where it is. I bought mine used, and it didn't come with an owner's manual (my next chore after replacing the bulb, or the fuse if that's the problem).

Clearly, in the several year history of the 2G TL and this illustrious forum, no one has yet been so dumb that they couldn't find the bulb.

Until now.

Humor me, but where is it? And don't say "in the trunk."

Thank you very much! I am grateful.

May you, as well, be blessed with a trouble-free transmission for the rest of your days. And nights.

For some reason I cannot see the pictures posted. Is the trunk light shared with the brake light? I was going through my car yesterday after I got it back from the body shop and they hadn't connected those two cables. One has a gray plug and the other is purplish... So, I plugged them in to the two slots right under the brake light (the long one next to the subwoofer). One plug seemed to power a bulb when you open the trunk and the other plug seemed to power the other bulb when you brake.
Is this right? I had never noticed, but it looks like when the trunk opens, the right side of the brake light comes on and when you brake, only the left side lights up.
Please confirm this.

IF YOU HAVE a spoiler the middle light normally gets unplugged at least mine was....and brake light should not turn on when you open the trunk

Gosh, I just spoke with the body shop and they said that the car didn't have it before???

Vetalik. So, that brake light isn't used anymore? That's probably why I only have one plug to go to that light...
Can anyone else confirm this?

ill take a picture when i can but.....

i have a spoiler one plugs in to that....

then i have the light on the back panel where the sub woofer is. there are two plugs when i got my tl, the two plugs where unplugged im guessing so there is no brake light behind the spoiler since the spoiler has a brake light....

and i have a light i think its for decoration ......im planning on putting a white cathode light like this

As far as i know they all have it.

The rear mount brake gets disconected when you have the spoiler. That (spoiler) gets connected to it

where can I buy the actual light thing that goes in the trunk? I don't even have a cable to connect it to. It's just bare metal next to my subwoofer.

I meant everything, because I have nothing... just bare metal. I'll try to snap a picture soon. Thanks for the link, btw.

Can somebody please tell me where I can buy what I'm missing?
BTW... where do I buy that plastic piece that holds those 2 long metal spring bars? It seems that mines are broken or at least the top part.

Why not install your own lights in there? The OEM trunk light sucks anyways...

those parts are dealer only parts. I would honestly buy something better for lighting than the oem light. Its very dim.

I have been searching the forum, but didn't find specific types of lights for the trunk. Can you guys give me ideas of what I should buy to put in there, then?
Thanks!
You guys are the bestest!
