leaking REPLACED tranny

I have a 99TL. my tranny died about a month ago. just a few days ago i found out my tranny is leaking.. (red fluid allover the place). my tranny fluid tank empties out in like 2 days and i end up refilling it everytime. im just driving on it for now, but how soon do you think my tranny will go before i can get another one???

ive only driven about 500 miles on this one so far.. but i just cant stand at the fact that i have to lose my car for another week and get an old 4-door integra as a rental again.

it's a serious problem if you run ur tranny without oil

it's dangerous and i recommend you bring it to dealer right away

What 'tranny fluid tank' are you referring to?

let it leak at the dealer lot! they could blame you for running it dry w/o fixing, then its your fault. make your choice

there's a little dipstick by the battery that reads your tranny fluid level.. im referring to that, because everytime i check, only the way bottom tip has red fluid on it. after i drive some more, i check it again and there is no wet marks on the dipstick at all.

Are the replaced trannies supposed to have the jet kit on them as well? I have seen the pics on here showing where the jetkit is installed, and while doing the intake on Sat I looked for the kit and didn't see it....

the replacement trannies have the jet kit installed internally , u can only see the jet kit on the original trannies that had the recall done

OK cool - Thanks! - I am noticing some 'irregularities' in the shifting of my replacement already - it's only been a few weeks, and I'm getting some hunting for gears, etc that was the beginning of the end for the last one.....

My mechanic told me to start the engine before checking the tranny fluid. Any truth to this???

It's truly amazing what information lurks in the Owner's Manual.

Engine at normal operating temperature, on level surface and NOT running.

Got my 99TL used so I don't have the manual:

My mechanic is right though on most of the cars:
http://www.samarins.com/maintenance/...html#automatic

Question, how can you set the engine at normal operating temperature? Should you start the engine first until the temp moved up and turn it off and then look at the tranny dip stick? When you say NOT running do you mean the engine is off or the car is not moving???

start teh car (drive it around if you feel like it) then park on a level surface shut the car off and test it. most cars require you to have the car running when testing it and some want the car running and in gear while testing it (having 2 people here helps) but honda wants teh fluid warm and the car off

when i tested it, myself and mechanics at the dealership, we had the car running. i let the car warm up first, just let it sit idle for a good 2 minutes, and then checked the dipstcik while the car was still on. and yes, even with the car running, my tranny level was unusally low. my transmission is leaking and i only drove 14 days on it. what's acura trying to do to meeee?!?!?!? i freakin love my car too
