just traded my type S for a Buick Lesabre
Well, my tranny went and that is the loaner i was given. Does anyone know how long i will be driving my new Buick hot rod? The dealership said 2 weeks for a new tranny to come in but I'm not sure how honest they are being with that date. I had two 80 year old ladies give me their digits and I'm getting worried this car will lead to prunes and Ensure shakes.

Well, typically Acura gives loaners from Enterprise... so you're going to get what they have.
As for service time... I've read as quick as 5 days and as long as 6 weeks for a tranny. Since there is no more backorder problem the 2 week estimate should be about right....

Only "recent" Buick I thought was decent was a supercharged Buick Park Ave that I rented for a ride through LasVegas...San Francisco and back... Nice and (idiot co-driver wanted to drive a Malibu 'cause it was smaller) spacious. 4 people+luggage...easy.
A little scary going up that Calif. Coastal Highway (rt 1?) with the beast though, I swear that must have been the scariest long ride of my life...
P.s. Our trunks are pretty useless...

If you had driven the 240HP/280lbs*ft Regal GS, you would have immediately known it.

Basically it was the engine I didn't like. It wasn't really refined. Very loud, kind of like a 4 cylinder or truck. Not that the TL is quiet, but the noises weren't pleasurable like the TL. Also GM they updated the starter for "better winter" starts. But it was soo cheap sounding :yack:
Come to think of it at highway speeds I felt as if I could go much faster (with ease...hey with 280 foot lbs of torque you betcha!), but driving around it floated worse than the TL-p even my wife mentioned that...so that's why I held back...besides it wasn't my car and I wasn't about to get into another accident. Basically I'm just so happy to be back in my TL. Maybe I'll need to get into a Caddy or something to enjoy GM cars again...
Don't get me wrong, I'll respect any regal I see (any monchrome one at least) since 280 foot lbs of torque is quite incredible.
BUT...good quality about the Regal...I think it's got a much bigger and more useful trunk!

Nope, I checked. It was the GS. I couldn't understand why the rental person said this was a nice car (cause I was paying extra for the rental...with only 5k miles). I made it a point to look at the designation...I remember GS on the body and the giveaway was the monochrome grill.

But if you want to see a really useful trunk - check out Chrysler 300M. You could put 5 bodies in there.

hey i used to owned a 96 regal with 3.8L
it was great and it never bailed me out...
it's smooth and fast, the 3.8L engine runs quieter than our TL too...no kidding
the lesabre is the best large size sedan around...second to avalon i believe...it's a decent car but the styling...err...
hope u will get ur TL back soon

I hope my current service dealer (Herb Connolly Acura) does the same, I hate getting crappy cars (even for only 1 day).

I think the torque on the Regal was nice and I really liked the turning lights too.
We'll one thing for sure....I know GM has always had bulletproof transmissions

I checked, it was a GS.
I was explicitly looking for LS, besides this one had the monochrome front which is the GS.

Next time (renting for a trip...), I will ask for a Volvo S60, they had a S60 that was supposed to be dropped of that Monday...but the renter liked it so much they asked to keep it for another week. The lady that was supposed to get it grabbed a SUV instead.
PS
I didn't like the S60 when I test drove it (maybe it was it was just okay. engine didn't wow me), my friend's fiancee got rid of her's 'cause she hated it :wow: , got a used Audi A6 wagon (Avant?) instead.
