MODS: please leave this in the TypeS forum for a while. I'm not sure if n00Bs are checking PM or the MEET forum.

Hey guys, I'm not sure if either of you saw this thread: http://www.acura-tl.com/forum/showth...threadid=49694
Danny, I PM'd you about it a couple weeks ago.

Basically, there is a SO CAL TL meet in Ontario on 12/14. There's about 35 people signed up so far, so it should be worthy of checking out, if you guys are in town that weekend.

PM or email, baggs@acura-tl.com if you're interested.

ps. ANYONE else in SoCal is welcome to attend.

Danny: were you at the gas station on Mira Mesa Blvd and Scranton yesterday (Dec 4 ~ Wed)?? I saw an '03 Anthracite TLS with the DMV tag still in the windshield.

Let me know.

Question for the SD folks--which Acura dealer in the area has a good Service department? The two dealers that I've been to have been, well, fairly disappointing.

You're welcome.
&

What dealers have you went to? I go to Hoehn in Carlsbad. They have been excellent.

I saw 3 ABP TL (two Type-S) on Sunday all in about a 30 minute time period. Amazing. And all around the 15. One in Vista and 2 in Mira Mesa.

But didn't see any SSM .

Sorry guys ... I've been MIA these past couple weeks (work has been CRAZY). Sorry I missed your PMs, baggs ... I hard ever check that

Can't make it this Saturday, unfortunately. Me and the wife got some shopping to do for family, then we're off to a party in the late afternoon.

Baggs, nope that wasn't me. I'm usually filling up at Shell on Mira Mesa BLVD, either at the Camino Ruiz intersection or down by the 15 next to Ralphs. Took my DMV tags off about a month ago, but for what it's worth, I only have my rear plate on.

I've been trying to keep my eye open for you guys. I saw an Anthracite Metallic '03 on Camino Ruiz a couple days ago, bone stock (at least on the outside) just like mine.

Daimler, I'd like to echo what Baggs has said -- Hoehn has got their act together. I'll probably take my car in soon for an oil change, and will have them fix a couple rattling problems (mainly from the sunroof visor, the seatbelt squeak and also have them check out a funky clicking sound coming from the rear dash). I dunno -- I'm thinking about doing the oil change myself, though, so we'll see if I actually make it down there. Only problem with Hoehn is that their service department is closed on Saturday, so either I make it a lunch break (a rather long one at that), or go in during the evening. I'm fairly certain you can drop your car off for them, and they might even give you a loaner (not for sure on that, so maybe I'd call it in first).

Honk if you guys see me on the road

Danny

Hoehn will definitely give you a loaner. My sales guy recommended coming in on Sunday, dropping off the car, taking a loaner, take the loaner for a drive up the coast, then come back in Monday to pick up the TL.

Maybe next time Danny. Also, just to let you know, I take my car to Mira Mesa Auto Techs (off Black Mtn) for my oil changes. $15 plus they'll rotate the wheels every other change. They do an excellent job. Ask for Alan or Eddie. Tell them James with the '03 Silver TLS sent you. They're really good & work after hours and weekends.

Well guys, us SD people need to get together for a meet. Let me know when you're available, maybe around Feb, maybe for Hot Import Nights.

James, thanks for the info ... will they put in oil that I bring in? I wanna do the synthetic treatment to the car.

And thanks for the tip on Hoehn ... I just might do that, plus my wife enjoys the outlets out there anyway

Danny: call them up 858-693-6209

9560 Black Mountain Rd, Suite A
SD, CA 92126

They may even be able to get you the synthetic at a discount. Very reasonable guys. When my fiancé's battery died, they let me take their professional powered jumper kit to jumpstart her car. No questions asked, just here, take this and bring it back when you can. :wow: excellent service.

I just did my oil change yesterday--it's really not too hard. The filter location is far better then that on my old Accord! Going to be driving a lot next few weeks, so I figured why not. Any of you use the oversize filter?

I had that (the oversize) on for the last 4000 miles, no leakage and no clearance problems. Usually Costco has Mobil 1 at a good price (about 22 for 6 quarts), but Walmart has it sometimes too (5 quarts for 19)

Ditto on honking--I'm in a bone stock WDP TL-S with the navi antenna, and light tint (30% rear, 50% side) all around.

James: how much did you get your intake for?

See you on the 15!

Bob, I actually worked a deal with a friend. I bought his intake for $140 because he wanted to change from Red to Blue. He hooked me up and also gave me a brand new AEM filter. We did the swap & installed the new one on his car in about 2 hours.

They run $220 brand new if you know someone. Any price from $220 - 250 is a good deal. www.groupbuycenter.com usually has some decent prices.

You guys need to add something different to your rides, I don't want to be honking at all the bone-stock TLs I see on/near the 15. :o If I get flipped the "bird", I'll know it's neither of you guys.

Heh, I'll probably get tint in the next few weeks (maybe some time after the holidays die down). Plan on going to Tint Devil on Miramar. I'm told by a buddy of mine to ask for John who only works Monday through Wednesday (apparently he drives down from Irvine or something to work there).

Bob, haven't done my own oil yet, so I'm just in "research" mode as I decide between using James' recommendation or just doing it myself. Knowing me, I'll probably have it down elsewhere because I'm the world record setter in procrastination.

James, thanks for providing the info. Not sure when I'll do the oil change, but I'm at 4000 miles now. I'll probably end up doing it around the 5000 mile mark, if not sooner.

Danny, the tint sounds good. I looked at both Tint Devil and Diamond when I got mine done. I went with Diamond since they carry the Llumar titanium tint. (Slightly reflective). ALSO, what are your plans for the "dot-matrix" in the rear window?? If they tint over it, it will look odd.

I had them cover mine w/a vinyl strip. Tint Devil will also do this for you.

I know, it doesn't look like my windows are tinted, but they are. The sun was just beating down right on the window when I took this pic.

James, I'm gonna consult with a cat named John at Tint Devil. I got the days wrong. He works Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A buddy of mine tells me to talk to HIM exclusively, and no one else. He was very happy with the work he did on his GS430. Originally he was soured by the work Tint Devil did, but after he talked to John who rectified the entire situation for him, he felt comfortable enough to recommend Tint Devil only if John touches the car. Anyway, I'll see what the options are. I haven't thought much about the dot pattern on the rear window. I know it's an issue when tinting the rear, but I'm also concerned about any type of interference with the GPS. I might go for a smoke tint, which I think looks fairly cool on darker colored cars.

BG, I'll keep an eye out for ya. You can often times find me making the left on Capricorn, heading North on Black Mtn. Road.

Danny:

I got a vinyl strip too for my TL-S on the rear window when tinted--my guy up north just did it without me asking.

No problems with the Navi whatsoever.

Good luck!
