Just installed new spoiler...Question

I just finished putting on my new trunk spoiler...JPritch, you'd be proud of me. My question has to do with the trunk springs...my trunk no longer pops up like it did before I put the spoiler on and I already adjusted the bars, but it still doesn't pop up. Has anyone experienced this problem? Is there anyway to make it pop up, i.e. new bars, etc...Please help! Thanks in advance.

My trunk does the same thing. Just a side effect of having a spoiler I guess. Oh well, still worth it to me

Didn't your kit come with new springs?

Guys you can go to the dealer - they carry heavy duty springs to hold up those heavier trunk lids! I did it no prob.

How much are they? You wouldn't happen to have a part number for those, would you? Thanks for the info!

Badazz...you'll see it in person in about a week or two...probably after I get my windows tinted

Even with the new bars I didn't think the trunk lid opended high enough. I had to put it on the 2nd notch and now it opens up like the stock trunk.

So if I get the new heavy-duty bars and put them on the 2nd notch (just like my stock ones are now), then it will open back up like stock?

I'm thinking 30% all around...I'll have to see Pritch's first...so maybe you just might get to see it without the tint

What's up dudes? Leave the board for two days and you miss so much!

Congrats on the spoiler JohnnyB_S, and much credit for doing your own handiwork!!!

In regards to the spoiler spring rate, wasn't there a thread either on this board or that "other" board where a member simply used the back end of a hammer to slide the spring a notch or two lower. No need to buy new bars or springs.

I was thinking of doing this to my car.

Anytime you want to see the tint on my ride, just let me know, we're only about 15 minutes apart.

I already did that trick...real easy if you know what you are doing, but hard to explain in words It worked pretty good before I put the spoiler on, but afterwards, not so I'll probably call the dealer and see what's up eventually...I'm a bit tied up this week and next. Yeah Pritch, I definitely want to check out your windows before I get mine done...we'll arrange something...

Mine came with the bars but the dealer wants $100 to install them, and the body shop I went to wants $90 to install them, so im tryin to find someone to do it for under 50, anyone know if that is realistic? Or how hard it is to do it myself?

Did you get your spoiler from the dealer? To do it yourself will require the aid of a special tool, but there might be a way around that. I will find a way once I order my new bars.

The dealer wanted $50 to install them. My bodyshop did it for free but scratched up the mounting brackets pretty good. I guess that's the tradeoff, and the way I see it, noone will ever look underneath the trunk ceiling. I doubt my body shop even took out my NAV by the looks of it. They pretty much bent the bars out of the sockets from the right side.
