Just as everything was looking so good....
Just an update, I bought CLS wheels, Am mounting 225/45/17's on them. Tires are in, wheels should come today. I have one CL wheel with me that I gave to my friend at the shop to mount the tire.... He told me that the mounting machine might scratch the rim due to it's lip design, and asked me if he should still do it.. I said no..So now I gotta find someone locally who can do it. He said the roller is very very close to the wheel, and may or may not scratch the rim....I will probably go to him afterwards and install the sways, but now I gotta try to find someone to mount the tires or wait until sunday...This bites, man!

Shoofin,
When you call around, ask if they have a Hunter wheel balancing machine. One of the new Hunter machines.
That's what Tim says he uses to mount the wheels/tires we buy from him.
Hope it helps.
Did you call Acura? I figure they must be able to do it. Plus if they fvck it up, they'll have to get you a new rim.

With all the shops in NY, one of them should be able to do it for you. Good luck.------------------

Good News guys! I just called my friend and asked if he got the other wheels, he didn't get them yet, but he was able to mount the rim and tire w/o scratching the wheel! Now lets hope the other rims get in today....

Shoof, why did you decide to go with the size tire you bought??? I thought the 235's would clear... Also, 225/45 are nice tires, but they dont look as good as the 50's... What is the offset on those rims anyways??? I got my tires to work perfectly... Thank God for dremel tools!!!

you're gonna love em, Ed. they look 10 times better with ultra-low profile tires than stock tires.

Shoofin', try Ganin Tire, theres 1 on Flatbush Avenue and Avenue T (I think, maybe Avenue S), and theres one on 65th Street & Bay Parkway. They did my wheels. $25 per wheel (balancing included) and they did a good job, no scratches and no vibrations on the highway.
96TL, that was my next choice to go, but when I called back my friend, one of the mechanics tried and was able to get the tire on the rim... only thing is, I knew which rim was the first one I gave him, and the mechanic did scratch it a little.. Not so bad, but I can live with it for now.. I'll probably polish it out.. I killed three birds with one stone... I changed rims, I changed sways, and I did inspection on the car... all for $30.. I gave my friend the new tire that I had no use for(the 235/45/17).. So he only charged me $20 for the inspection(usually $45 or something) and I tipped the mechanic $10..
PV22CLIF- They did mount the rims on my car and it didn't fit- with the stock 215/50/17 tire. I was planning to put 225/50/17's,but was reluctant once I learned that a narrower tire didn't fit..The weird thing is that the Overall Diameter of our stock 205/60/16 tires are bigger than the overall diameter of the 215/50/17 on the CL-S.
Shyne- I realized the 235's fit, but wanted to be safe and just go with 225's.. My method of checking wasn't 100%. If I had a shop check it, I would trust their word more than my own, especially that it would be on a lift in the air so you can check every aspect of the tire's fitting and not just on jackstands 12 inches off the floor running my hands around the tire.Offset of the CLS wheel is 55mm..
