JDMization is complete for me
JDMization is complete for me
Alright, well since I first got the TL foglights were always something that intrigued me and I wanted. I took on the accord foglight mod twice, but because of the cheap look and poor quality lights I was getting the both broke quite quickly.
Last summer I found and shipped a JDM bumper to myself. It came in pretty bad condition, but with everything I needed to do. I don't remember the exact price, but it was a couple hundred bucks, probably around 3 or 4 after shipping.

I went through a friends shop to have it painted, and unfortunately, he really let me down. The paint job was very poorly done, and took almost 8 months to complete. Although it wasn't too big of a deal that it took so long because I wanted to wait until the MN winter was over, it was still upsetting that it took as long as it did. I put it on but the foglights were not wired up.
This made it about a month until March, when my car was hit at school. I should make it clear that I park my car about as far back as possible, behind the richest kid at school because I know he won't ding up my doors. This kid, to give you an idea, drives his 08 Denali on 28's with 4 12" alpine type-r's as a winter car, and an Audi R8 with 20" custom Asainti rims as a summer car. Anyways, I walked out of school one day, and found my hood jacked up, my bumper scratched and dented, the grill smashed in, and my fender popped out.
I checked the security footage and sure enough Aero in his big Denali backed straight into me, pulled forward, looked at the damage, and then got in his car and drove away.
I confronted him on it the next day, and long story short he admitted to it, although he claimed he never got out and looked at it, saying he didn't think he hit anything....

I brought it to a shop, and got a $2500 estimate. Because I had purchased a carbon fiber hood I told him he could take off some of the money and I would replace the hood, since I had some minor damage to it done in the past, nothing like what he did though.
The POS CF hood looked like this...

The right side was the better fitting side, there was about a 1inch gap on the left, and all the spaces were wrong, so I had to buy a hood replacement hood. The problem was that Aero had given me a check for $2250, so everything over that was on my shoulders.
The first CF hood I got was broken in several ways, so the company sent me a 2nd one, which wasn't broken, but didn't fit at all.
I then found a hood near my house for $75, and he claimed it was in good condition. I did a light check of it, but because it was beige and dirty, it was hard to tell, so I bought it and brought it to the shop. The cleaned it and found it wasn't good at all, and had bondo etc, and was junked.
Then I decided to get a replacement one for $300, the first one came in dented, so they sent it back, and finally on the 5th hood, I got a winner.
I ended up deciding to have my fenders fixed because they had tons of paint problems and dents. In the end I got one fixed, and one replaced.
The final result was
-1 new fender, painted
-1 fixed fender, repainted
-1 new hood, painted
-foglights wired in (3k HID's)
-misc. parts installed
-paint matched
There was some other small stuff done, and the total came to about $2900, but the final result was this....

Also, the guy who I bought the hood from sold me some OEM tail lights for $75 for the pair, which I installed the day I got my car back

Sounds like an honest to goodness pain in the ass. Definitely worth it in the long run, if you had a civic or some thing you would have been done in a month. Having a car that not many people mod has its pros and cons. Plus side you have something kinda unique, but you pay out the ass for custom work.
friesm, youre such a fuckin prick man. you go around bashing everyone in their own threads.
you are the definition of an insecure shit head and im tired of you trying to come off as a know-it-all, i say you GTFO if you have nothing constructive to say.

on a lighter note: car looks good man, would be badass if you could find a jdm lip though.
thanks everyone that had something nice to say...
JDM brothers, haha, I got the HID kit from one of the vendors on here, I can't remember the price right now, but it was the cheapest I saw on the forums, just because I can't always use them
